if you can get error nubmer 11, then you just need to burn your xboxhdm cd with the original M$ files on it.
you can find those files from a nice person in a place that he is unlikely to be arrested. search the forums, i'm sure someone can help you. if you don't find them there, look around on eMule or torrent.
make sure you get the dash files that correspond with your hardware.
i won't help you with this, as it would be super illegal, and i am in the US, so that kind of stuff is enforced here. land of the free...all that good stuff.

the 13 means it can't find a dashboard.
i think 16 means the clock needs to be set -and- it can't find a dashboard.
(i could be wrong on this, someone correct me if i am)

above is an "official" x-scene list of error codes. seems to be comprehensive.

to get error 11, just take the top cover off the box, then unplug the ribbon cable from the DVD drive, but not from the HD. depending on your computer's boot speed (you will have to figure this timing out for yourself) you need to boot the xbox and the PC so that the xbox gets error 11 about the same time that xboxhdm reaches the linux boot menu with the 4 boot options.
when you get the timing right, this is where to hotswap your XHD into the hda(primary master) of the computer.
the cable select setting on the XHD should suffice, so there should be no need to mess with the jumpers.

When I opened my xbox I only unplugged the DVD IDE cable. The when I start my computer i hit pause break before it looks for HDD's. But once i unplug the xbox IDE calbe from the HDD and hook it up with the computer Hdd IDE cable and I hit enter it goes to a page looking for DHCP w/e that is. I have the cd in the drive but the drive is a dvd one i don't know if it matters because thats the drive i burned it with. Why won't it go to the Xboxhdm program? am i not doing something right?

I have tried everything to get this cd to work. I have a chipped box so not worried about locking or unlocking. I put a new HDD into my PC along with the cd, booted it and selected option 1. It starts to load, the screen goes black and my ps/2 keyboard dies. I removed all my PCI and AGP cards and there are no usb devices plugged in. The network cable is good to go. Anything else I can try to get option 1 to boot???

Ok getting back to the xboxhdm.....
my question is If i want to do it the long way by just cloning the hard drive to a bigger one.
Will the hard drive clone actually format the new drive dor me and then do its copy of the original to it ]?? or will i need to format it ,add F: then do the clone process ?
My box is a 1.6 original Wd Hdd.
with the splintercell softmod in it.
Added 2.0 usb port.

Works great as is now but just need bigger hard drive in it. So i asked that just to make shure i do this right
on the hard drive clone

Hi, i just joined x-scene a couple minutes ago, but i have searched on this site and ** Links to Xbox Warez and Torrents ** to find a answer to my problems. At ** Links to Xbox Warez and Torrents ** i found a similar tutorial of yours dealing with the xboxhdm. I read through your whole guide, but i am having problems. okay well, i have a corrupted hard drive with an error code 16, and i know what that means, i saw that really the only way an unmodded xbox can fix the problem is to hotswap, so i hotswap using the xboxhd disk, and i am running into some problems, that i was hoping you could help resolve. okay first of all i hotswap on and go to xboxhd and choose option 5. to wipe partition table.(that is what they told me to do on ** Links to Xbox Warez and Torrents **). Then i shut both the xbox and pc off and re-hotswaped and tried to choose option 1, but it searched for the partition table, and could not find anything and it said to press any button to abort. I then choose option 2 to rebuild the c-partition, but it said that there was no partition table, and asked if i was sure that this was an xbox hard drive. I was going to try to clone another hard drive, but i could not successfully hotswap both of them, so i just gave up.
Do you have any advice for me that would finally resolve my problems. I thank you ahead of time.

Hi. Been doing alot of reading but am still unsure....

I softmodded a friends xbox which was great until somehow he messed it up.

When I boot it up I get Error code 5 Hdd not locked. Now I dont have the backup of the eeprom anymore (as he has managed to delete loads of files) so I cant lock it so is there anything I can do to save this box?

thanx mate!!! i used this to create a 80gig HD instead of my orginal 10gigs i had, but i could only access 8gigs

i am happy that you created this... and that i was able to lock my HD using it!!! i onlt have a softmodded xbox, without any extra chips!!!

I thank you again... for making it possible for xbox modders not to have to buy a chip!!!

Had a box brought in that was already showing error 16.(So no keys.....hotswap easy as pie!!) Tried using HDD Driver, fatxplorer, FAT-X-EXPLORER, HD fatXbox Explorer and WINHEX to no avail.

Made a xboxhdm disk using Slayers 2.6 FINAL for the C: files and get error 21. Use xplorer in xboxhdm to transfer files from CD to HD and get constant reboot loop with no error codes. Let it loop continually(8-10 hours) and get flashing red green LED and black screen with no error codes.

I have tried making from scratch, redo C:, copy files using xplorer with hacks and without

I have countless backup disks from previous softmods and a couple of boxes waiting in the wings.

Any advice on what else to try would be most appreciated. I just know I missing some little......aaaarrrggg!!(LOL)

I didnt put my C and E drive on this cd, i think, cuz they are empty if i look to the cd via the pc.. And my xbox is f*cked up, when i start the xbox, i get a error 21 by MS, and the slayers disc etc dont work!

Yesterday i got a 60 gb hd for the xbox, and wanna to do this, but the linux prog says that it cant put C and E drives because i didnt, what must i do now?/

hey there,

I have used XBOXHDM to create a backup of my current xbox to the linux ISO. I am running XBMC(xbox media center) as a dash but did the backups via evox beforehand(all softmod, no hardware mods in this one). After making the cd and running it on my compatible 40gig HDD, doing all the necesarry procedures that it still wouldnt work in my xbox. I kept getting the error screen with the dash error numbers, i then by accident managed to get a game to load!(could get this to work every time just by putting the game disk in at the right time) guess what,it was splinter cell which could read the original savegame backup off my newly made HDD. Got into the linux softmod and copied the backups for the evox dash over FTP and then restored the dash. And voila, working HDD!

Anyone know if i can use live with this HDD or will it get me banned from live?It has been locked using the eeprom from my old HDD. The dash i have at the moment allows me to run games on live without being banned as long as the game is in the drive before coldstart, i just wanted to know if this was still the case with the new hdd as i dont want to be banned (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

if this could load an eeprom from from a usb stick/action replay AND a exploit was created to save the eeprom to the usb stick this would be a PERFECT solution.

you can do just that, use a gamesave with just evox, run it and do a backup, then copy the save back to mem stick
(mem stick will now have a backup folder with the eeprom.bin in it)
