I have had my mod chip (pretty much since the UK launch) a while now and it has now started to mis-behave. On mode 1 I have a flashing green light and mode 3 I have a solid green light, but the XBOX continues to boot off it's original bios :(. Can you guys help.....

 :uhh:

Sounds like the DO point is not making proper contact with the board.

The single springloaded pin @ the top of the chip connects to the Do point, try cleaning the Do point & then re-fit the chip.

The led's on your chip will light up as normal as long as the lpc pins are making proper contact with the board & the Do pin dosen't

The light is only that the d0 is alligned and not anyother pins other than pin 1 (ground and the power pin 3.3 volts I think.  If these three pins are aligned then it will be green.  This still leaves 7 pins that needs connecting and there aren't any lights for them.  Just try loosening the screw and tightening the screw with just a little at a time till you know it is booting off the matrix chip.

Thanks for your help so far guys! But which way round is it??

Does it flash green when d0 is align or the other 7 pins??

I will try some more tonight, I have cleaned it and I have a small pit on one of the 7 pins, may try and resolder it.

It will flash green with only the 7 lpc pins connected, I think I seen something about having to recover the L frame in order to get a matrix to work in anything over a 1.2

you might want to look into that first before retry..

The easiest way would be to get a compatable mod for you new box & keep the matrix in the old one.

Have you considdered flashing the Tsop? it's not as hard as you might think...

Good luck, Valius

It does not matter of all of the lpc are connected if it flashes green.  I have soldered the d0 for a 1.2 matrix install (it falshed green all the time even when it was not working.) I did nothing for the pin 7.  I only removed pin 7 for a 1.6 mother board.  The chip for the 1.2 I always knew it was aligned for the d0 since it was soldered but for the other lpc pogos I had to clean them some times.  Carbin or something stopped them from makeing a good connection.
