Guess your right man! For some reason I had 3 versions of the file? Does Mordens package work like this?

Anyhow, horses for courses like my old mate used to say smile.gif

Looks like mordens does a copy as well...

COPY E:\Tdata\fffe0000\music\st.hk E:\Tdata\fffe0000\music\st.db

Though puzzling in mordens scripts to install the hack i dont see a backing up of the original st.db to st.or

hi there!

thanks for teh tutorial, it is working, but i got one problem here.

It must have something to do with the st.db file.

I´ve activated the fonts and it worked.

The Problem is that there are 2 possibilities.

1. can rip cd´s as normal in the ms dash after boot, but do not here any background music in mxm any more.
2. still have the hacked soundtrack in the ms dash, but can here background music in mxm wich is not apearing in the ms dash.

what is my problem? I want to rip audio as normal in ms dash, but also hear these in mxm as backgound.

Any clues?

Thanks

Hmm So let me get this right, you dont have any soundtracks in the M$ dash but music plays in the background in MXM? So you DO have music on your machine somewhere smile.gif

Few Q's:

- Have you ever used Mordens GameStub feature?

- When you are in the M$ dash and go to MUSIC what do you see? The hacked soundtrack? What I mean is, can you enable the exploit from the MUSIC menu?

- Have you tried ripping any NEW audio yet?

- FTP into your music dir on your E drive, tell me what ST files you have, with fonts ON you should have ST.DB and ST.hk if you have ST.or as well try renameing that to ST.db and renaming the ST.DB to ST.old see what happens?

I have never known music to be played in MXM when you have no ripped audio in the M$ dash? unless MXM doesnt USE ST.DB and simply reads the .wma files direct from the wma folder??

Hope we can work this out!!

smile.gif

I think we need to remove all your audio and start again, you only have 4 tracks so thats good smile.gif

remove all your music from the M$ dash.. ok? delete all your sound tracks.

then, boot MXM got to FTP and get into your music folder in E TDATA.

delete the ST.DB and ST.OR files but leave the ST.hk if it is there.

If you DO NOT have the ST.hk file, rename the ST.DB file from the Catfish merge.zip file to st.hk and uplpad that wink.gif

got that smile.gif

now, boot the machine, with fonts on, and rip a new audio soundtrack in the ms dash, this will re-make a proper ST.DB file smile.gif

now, you should have a fresh soundtrack, if it doesnt play in MXM ensure you have MXM set up properly wink.gif

now you should be ok, i hope!

also, check out this tool:
http://johny6killa.h...rack_editor.htm

makes music on the xbox a LOT simpler...

I reboot, select Phoenix, and it drops back to the MS dash. My audio tracks are visible.

Hmm, are you sure you have P and P.xbe in the PBL folder?

Try this, copy the PBL folder to your PC rename it to "Phoenix" and then upload it to E, try the font hack boot, if it WORKS, you have the OLD fonts, read the thread again and make sure you have the new ones.

Other than that? I dunno? Keep trying and report back! Most people seem to fix niggles like this, you could always remove the whole thing and start over...

Hi there!

ok, here is the result of testing:

deleted all of my music (just the 4 songs and the soundtracks in ms dash after boot).

Deleted the st.db file in the music folder so that there was just the st.hk file left.

Rebooted to ms dash and made a new soundtrack with 1 song in it an named it.

Can see, play and edit this soundtrack an the file in ms dash and the soundtrack editor, but still no music in mxm.

Can´t see were i can configure the path of music in mxm and it worked with the hacked st´s from mordens v3 package.

any ideas left?

thanks

Press Y then configure, you can set up the in dash music from that smile.gif

If it worked before, it should work now?

Does everything else work ok? The font script? Etc??

is background music in mxm with mordens hack just working with the hacked db and/or with the st.or file? because when the audio hack from morden is active there is just the hacked st.db the hacked st.hk and the original st.or with the msdash sounds in it. so mxm uses the st.or for sounds?

I belive that is correct smile.gif however, I never use music in MXM with Mordens, also, the new "package" has a non-Morden version of MXM so try replaceing your default.xbe in the MXM folder with that wink.gif

Hi!

OK, my thoughts were right!

I´ve copied the st.db (original from ms dash with the soundtrack in it) to st.or and now i have the background music back!

So in fact you need 2 copies of the original ms dash st.db, one as st.db and one as st.or with the fonts activated to have music in mxm and the st.hk from morden to reactivate the audio hack.

You should update this in your script, the tutorial and the ftp package.

thanks!

regards

tullm

Yes, after looking it up you are right.

If I were you I would simply update MXM in the package, this will cure all problems.

The reason it never dawned upon me is simply becuase I never have music in MXM anyway smile.gif

I will update the tutorial to save people having the same problem, as for changing my script I am unsure, it would mean having 2 copies of the ST file and it could cause some issues.

I guess I was so busy trying to get music working in the M$ dash, I neglected MXM!

Hi again,

no, why should it be a long way around to change teh script?

The basic setup mordes V3 package wich uses 3 files in music: teh hacke st.db, the hacked st.hk for restoring an the st.or for orignal ms dash and the soundtracks.

So the st.or ist needed for everyone with mordens package and switching to bobw from you! So in your script you should not rename the st.or, but copy it and rename the copy to st.db.

So everyones soundtracks used with the original audio package is there.

Or do you mean that morden has modified the mxm to look to or and not db? So we have to use an other mxm version, or I mean original mxm?

Thanks

TUllm

YES, you are right  blink.gif  I was just being stupid smile.gif this would be quite simple, problem is I have already sent the file away to go on xbins  ohmy.gif

I will try and update the code so we always have an ST.OR and ST.DB that are the SAME, would have been better if I had rememberd that this is how Morden got around this problem before DOH!  jester.gif

Give me time, or would you all rather wait until I have my multi dash option aviliable?

The above will turn OFF the fonts and COPY the un-hacked ST.DB to become ST.OR, therefore in MXM ST.OR can be read smile.gif and music will play.

The above will turnON the fonts and COPY the origional ST.OR to become ST.DB.

The problem here is simple.

If you RIP some audio in the M$ dash with the fonts ON, it will not work in the MXM dash until you turn the fonts off and then back on. Becuase Mordens hacked MXM will only read the old ST.OR and not the new ST.DB otherwise.

The only way around this would be to make a script that updated ST.OR everytime MXM loaded...

See what I mean about it being the long way around!  blink.gif

Or get the fonts to load an un-hacked MXM XBE... rolleyes.gif

Thats the plan for the new package wink.gif

But thats a while away yet!

But yeh, as long as you download the zip file in the FTP package thread then it contains a un-hacked MXM file smile.gif and the latest PBL as well..
