Remember to zip up the backup of your harddrive just in case something happens in the future.

Well, Im prob. not gunna touch the system files ever again, ie font exploit. So far my audio exploit has been working better than I ever that it would.
I havent backed up my hd yet, but I will as soon as a week or so. A friend of mine is giving me a free 80gig hd cuz his dad works for some company, which im trying to decide whether to use it in my new computer for downloads, or putting it in my xbox.
How hard is it to put in a bigger hd? I havent really read up on it yet. Is there a big chance of screwing things up?
Im guessing there isnt a high risk of screwin things up cuz if you had to you could just put the old hd back in if the bigger 1 doesn't work.

Another issue is whether the hd my friends givin me is gunna be ide or scsi. He said he could prob. get me ide, but he could def get me scsi. I think 80 gigs is fine for my xbox.  80 gigs is a good #of gigs for emulation!

Anyway, im typin alittle too much so im just gunna stop.

how did you get the fonts installed in the first place?  didn't you use a game-save exploit?  why not just do that as it seems much simpler than doing a hotswap in your situation...

Gman: Installing the bigger HD is a doddle, you've actually done most of the procedure in getting your original HD up and running.

The only things you need to watch are:

1. If your not using a TSOP or mod chip, you'll need to use LiveInfo and ConfigMagic to get eeprom info and calculate a new HD Key for the new drive.
2. Locking the new Harddrive (double/treble check the code) the hddlock program generates a text file with the key used to lock the drive keep a copy.
3. Backing up the original HD (HDDriver can be buggy, but if you managed it once you should be okay) Once this is done, lock your original retail drive away, you can now happily screw up your new HD!!!
3. HDDriver restores can sometimes be corrupted, I found nearly all the gamesaves were corrupted on my new HD (this can sometimes be the case when the gamesave puts in a signature based on HD Serial... but not all games), easiest way around this is to format E: using Evox and ftp a copy of your E-drive onto the new HD.

Enough rambling, I don't want to make a post into a tutorial, especially with plenty of good tutorials out there already.
