Kernel 5713
« on: March 26, 2004, 01:20:00 PM »

Hello, I had the same problem with the "rosso (red) pack" and I cant downgrade the dashboard, I get always error 13.
The kernel 5713 does not permit, for now, to downgrade the dashboard, then there arent software exploit for this kernel version.
I hope that someone find some exploits!
Bye

Yeah I understand that there isn't an exploit yet. But I was wondering if anyone actauly knew what the new Kernel is looking for in regards to the dash. Is it looking for a version, file size, checksum, etc.

I don't think anyone knows it yet. Hopefully when they do find out they come with a fix for it.

Does anyone know what the 5713 kernel is looking for when it checks to see what dash is installed? Filesize, version, checksum???? Would there be anyway that we could modify an olderdash so that it could pass these checks, whatever they are? I am a complete newbie when it comes to this, just thought I would put this out there.

Thanks in advance for any help!!  beerchug.gif

You can downgrade the dash, but theres no point. Just download slayers, extract it and take everything from "C Backup" and place it on the C Drive of the Xbox

You both are right, there are no exploits that work with a 5713 Kernal. You'll need to wait untill the Phoenix team gets back together and decides to make an Official release of PBL 1.4 which will probally support the latest dash, kernal and focus chip.

And you can't modify the MS Dash, no matter what version, in anyway or else it wont work. I believe the Kernal just looks for an MS Dash thats signed by MS with that secret key we'll never find. smile.gif

Kolk where do you get your info? We are not talkin about 5530 kernels here we are talkin about 5713 kernel that CANNOT be downgraded.
Anyway second of all I don't think team phoeix is joining up again and if they did the problem that pbl don't work on any dash higher that 4920 is NOT a problem of pbl but a problem on the exploits itself.

Oh... It's not a matter of if there getting back together, it's a matter of when. They just split to deal with some personal issues. Marriage, vacation, etc..

PBL does not depend on the dash.

And I wouldnt plan on seeing much future work from phoenix....

There is no way of fooling the Kernel if we put and old dash on and make it look like a new one (

No, because you can't modify the Dash in anyway or else it wont boot. You'll get an Error 13 on boot. If we had the key that is used to sign it then yes, but we don't and probaly will never get it.

heinrich: Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. It sounded like everyone one saying it was PBL, maybe I misread...

If you can borrow a mod chip you can just flash your tsop.  Chameleons work, as do a few others.

I think the point of a SoftMod is that its realtivly easy to do and not dangerous in anyway, TSOP of the other hand is a bit out there for the complete newbie. Plus they would have to install and solder points for the Cameleon (wouldn't they?).

Well if you have a 5713, then an effective softmod is no longer easy.  TSOP bridging isn't easy, but for an experienced solderer its a joke.  (find one of these ppl rather than wrecking your xbox)  My point is at this time the 5713 has to be scrapped by any means necessary. I hope that softmodding works again soon, I think its funny that we can do all this without a chip.
BTW there are chips with pinheaders that require no soldering at all.. Just a screwdriver and 45 seconds.  After the TSOP is write enabled that is..

It can only kill you. So I guess it's not that dangerous.

There are still no confirmations of 1.6 xboxes around or not around carying an excalibur (or other) video chip. So make sure you first check you video chip before you start flashing your tsop cuz you might end up with an xbox that won't give you any decent video output.
