lets just help that this fix applies to more than just the PAL systems, i know the guys working on it are all in france, so what they are doing is for pal, but hopefully the same idea will work with NTSC, althought there may need to be some changes

Just a quick thought, on my 5530 box i have downgraded to the dash in slayers2.5 and with that, I have loaded pbl1.3.5i (very blurry) and pbl1.4 by yosh. If these programs load why is that I cannot run evox or ava after signing the xbe with xbedump -font? Also, it seems that pbl1.4 would work except for when it attempts to load a bios it gives me an error message saying the 0 files were found in the directory "P:\Bioses"! After numerous attempts pbl1.3 gives me an error saying it cant find P:\boot.cfg although its in the root of c:\ just like everything else...wierd. I use hotswap/xlinux as it is the most stable for me and i like linux, although sometimes i get "ghost" or damaged files that are basically unremovable from xlinux and xlinux doesnt support formatting xfat partitions (COrrect me if im worng!) is this after applying patch? if not u cannt run any PBL cz kernel 5530 doesnt support loading bios from RAM. U can execute PBL cz u are only running the .xbe with font signed but when it tries to load bios u get the error. and u get better intro with PBL 1.4 cz it supports focus chip.

well i finally ran into a dreaded 5530 xbox tonight while doing a softmod, i'd really like to know if the eeprom fix will work? if it does is this only for PAL users? or will this extend out to the NTSC users also? I'm in the USA so i'm really concerned with the NTSC part

As you could have read in the post from legueux the patchin still doesn't work. If you be patient there will be a fix in the near future hopefully.

I spent _hours_ trying to softmod a friends v1.4 (v1.5?) Xbox after having done 2 others, one of which was (I believe) a 1.3. and the other a v1.2. It took me a lot of time, and a fair bit of panic when I mucked up a file so the Xbox wouldn't boot and had to hot-swap the hard-drive after booting a game on the semi-dead Xbox, and plugging it into my Xecuter-2 modded machine.

I've tried PBL 3.5i, 4.0 and 4.1 with X2 4981.06, 4979.06, 4977, & EvoX M7. All have the same result (Using debug RC4 Key and the 1.0/1.1 EEPROM keys in the boot.cfg). Phoenix loads fine (apart from the focus encoder issues in earlier PBLs), select the BIOS, the screen flickers a bit, then goes black and everything freezes. If the guys over at Gueux can get this working, then I'll be even more impressed than I am already, as I've spent a fair bit of time perusing forums trying to work out what's going on.

Does anyone know what actual changes there have been in the Retail BIOS's other than support for different video encoders? My own Xbox is a v1.1 and I can't detect any differences in functionality in the rare occassions when my machine has the chip turned off.

Well the theory from yoshiro was that the they changed the eeprom somehow so that it blocks any other bios loaded into RAM.

OKAY,

I Loaded splinter cell
I loaded the exploit> i was in evox
I downgrade my dash to 4920

I installed the audio exploit from guex.net for the 5530 kernel (which i have)

i did the audio exploit, but now evox in french load's

how can i install an different evox with this audio exploit?

or can i use a different audio exploit with my kernel

just put in a normal english evox.ini instead of the one present. If this is only about installing evox and an audio exploit this brings nothing new.

i adjusted the ini file. its english

does anyone know how to update my evox? because the version i have now is 3921

and i dont use PBL now, what are the advantages of PBL above audio hack?
