And be sure u are not runing kernel 5530 or 5659 or more letest kernel running. If u try to exploit this version u will get error 21 or 13. Exept 5530 can be softmodded but doesnt support PBL.

First of all check your kernel version before you start tearing apart your xbox. If you bought it brand new it might not be exploitable.
Second of all if you have acces to games like mechassault, 007 agent under fire or splinter cell you'd be better of using a gamesave hack instead of hotswapping.
You just have to buy a memory card and let your cousin or someone else with a hacked xbox put a hacked gamesave on it. This is much better then that lousy hotswap shit that has loads of poblems and you might fuck shit up.
The surreal n64 emulator works great and yes you can ftp over skins for evo-x. I think it be best for you to do lots of reading on all kinds of tutorials available.
And you can just pull the rubber things of your xbox they won't break.

nevermind:
I have kernel 5101  and my dash  is 4920.  so now what?

what I would like to do  is  have evox/xbox media center/ and emulators
I would like to use the phenoix loader also with the audio exploit,
so can someone tell me where to place what files once I hotswap into the harddrive and after i back it up ?   thanks  I'm dying to tear  it apart and go at it but I want to make sure I have everything I need and won't screw everything up first.

you can check your kernel and DASH version in the settings menu under the scrolling text of system info. And if you want to run evox just rename it to linux.xbe although there is a newer stable audio hack around that uses the name exploit as the file that it boots. The bios should go into the biosses folder of pbl. I'm sure you don't know what I'm talkin about so I sugest you read...a lot.

First check your kernel version cuz pbl will not work with 5530 kernels not even the new ones. If you have a kernel higher than 5530 the whole xbox can't even be softmodded

Okay seems like you'r lucky on the kernel subject. You need a BFM version of the bios. Doesn't matter which one you use.

it would be to much to walk you through this in here. Just go to some pinned tutorials. Basically it's this:
-hotswap
-install audio hack
-install audio signed pbl
-install the dash of your choice
thats all
I don't hink the pbl is signed so you will have to get xbedump to sign it with the audio key

Your HD is stilled locked. Use this method;

1. Start Xbox
2. If you already have any saved music tracks in your xbox the skip steps 3    & 4
3. Insert a music cd
4. Copy atleast one track in your hard drive
5. Now go to music in xboxdash and and play the music for 20-30secs.
6. Pause the music
7. Unplug IDE cable from xbox hard drive and plug in Pc secondery IDE cable(    Master Slot)
8. Start up your pc

now ur pc should start quickly and hdd is unlocked.

thats the only method worked in my xbox. My xbox hard drive never spins down. I had the same prob. as u hav. My xp would load slooowly and then I could see the drive in device manager ( ST10XX). But that cd method worked. Try this: start up pc and hit pause brek and ur pc will hang in the black screen. then do the whole process and hit pause break again or hit enter or space bar. booting up will start and see whats happen. And do u hav .net framework 1.1 installed. I saw in some other tutorial that u need .net framework to be installed although I dont what .net has to do with it.

Well  I'm almost there but have run into yet another problem.  I followed a tut on the forum about fixing the  file size error  now alli see is  system and can expand it. My problem  is the audio exploit says i need to put the st.db file in the e drive partition  but I don't see it anywhere  so what do I do now?  I've been at this for like 12 hours now, I'll be so glad when i get it done.  most of the time was wasted because i didn't have net framework installed.   thanks to everyone
