Clock Loop Repair
« on: March 08, 2004, 05:10:00 AM »

I remember there being a way to fix the clock loop for the font exploit with an ethernet cable that was cut and certain wires tied together. does anyone remember how to do that and could they either post a link to that post or give the directions here?

thanks much

Cut the cable in half. Take one end and join the orange and green pairs (white orange+white green and orange+green).

Is this a "for-sure" fix? I ask this because I was under the impression that a fix has yet to emerge allowing a complete fix against this loop...

No this is not a sure fix. This is just a trick thinkin the xbox is connected to a network. So it has the same effect as the standard network cable stall thingie.

Unplug your DVD-ROM drive from the cable, boot up xbox. You should get an error 12. Hot swap hard drive into computer and use fatxplorer/hdd_driver to repair your damage.

fatxplorer/hdd_driver

I can't seem to get these to work.  Is there anyone who knows how to use these or is there a tutorial on how to use them.

I followed the read me files in all the tools for the HD.  Still can't access the files.  My Xbox Hd is unlocked, Primary master, i'm using XP on my computer, have installed the VB6runtime.exe.....

Why not ues xLinux ?

I have a 100% success rate with installing the font hack with xLinux. HDD Driver is not good at all.

HDD_Driver needs a couple .DLL files that don't come with windows. Google it.

ok, I got HDD_Driver working.  Created a image of the XBox Hd on the computer.  I want to alter the image.  I have tried using HD fatXbox Explorer 1.4 but it doesn't work for me.  I try read the Hd of image I made and it closes down.  Is there anyway to edit the files in the HD image or the Hard disk itself....?

Just do a hotswap right when it goes from the Xbox Logo to the screen where the MS DashBoard tries to load.. you have to time the IDE cable unplugging right when it begins to load... this will allow for the HD to be unlocked... simply use HDD Driver to change your files after you get access... If you don't time it right, the HD will lock again and it will go back to the Logo screen...

This works, we got rid of a clock loop (reboot loop) using this procedure this afternoon on a failed v1.4 K:5530 setup....

OH.....
When I use HDD Driver...  I get an error, invalid file name or somthing.  I just ignored it and backed up the drive.  I know how to unlock the drive using the HD key from my backup.  I guess I need to get this error of invalid file name on HDD Driver solved so I can alter the contents of the HD right....?

My method so far anyway.

I got a fresh copy of C: from thr slayers auto install CD (Extracted that bit out of the file).  I plan to burn that onto a CD.

I then plan to delete all the files currently on my C: using Boxplorer which boots from the CD.  Then I plan to use xb-ftp061 (also boot from CD) to copy the defualt C: drive files onto my HD.

This is all becuae EVox and slayers don't boot.

I'm hoping a fresh C: will fix my problem.

Do you think what I plan to do will work?  HDD Driver would be easier I guess but I don't know how to get around that error when reading the HD.
