So Exactly What Screen Do I Hotswap From?
« on: February 18, 2004, 12:07:00 PM »

I'm in a clock loop and I've tried hotswapping from the hardware refresh disc screen, but the hdd is locked. I've read that when in a clockloop and want to hotswap, do it at the bootup screen with the big X? (Is that correct?)

I just want to make sure I dont screw up my xbox even more by hotswapping!

                           Thanx

Time your box booting up. Figure out how long the X shows until it reboots. Swap your drive right before the reboot. Make sure your light stays green. If it flashes red/green after the swap you must do it again because your drive will be locked. I have all kinds of success at doing this. Good Luck.

Thanks Angerwound. Im guessing that once the ide cable is unplugged, the screen freezes (at the screen you unplugged the cable from?)

Exactly, and if done correctly will stay frozen. On occasion the light will blink red/green. in this case try again.

Thanks for your help again Angerwound. Well, I think Im all set to try a hotswap again. I'll w/b in this forum whether if it was a sucess or not.

PS. All I really want to do is change my xbox back to normal, then use exploits again.

                                  Wish my luck,

Yes, GOOD LUCK. Hopefully you backed up your dash files before loading the exploit. I will check back later tonight to see your success.

I do mine like that.  Just wait till the logo shows up, and as soon as "MS" appears under it, unplug your ide cable from the xbox HD and swap it.  Works for me everytime...and I always get the lights flashing red/green, so that doesn't neccesarly mean it's still locked...

good luck....

edit: freaking board turned "M|crosoft" into MS for me, so it won't be MS, it says "M|crosoft"

I tried hotswapping twice and both times it flashed red/green and went to an error 21 screen, + it still doesn't work.

PS. I hooked back up the original ide cable to the xbox hd (the way it was) and its still in a clockloop, but thats alright considering I thought I may have ruined the hd or something because of the error 21, lol.
