Mordens audio installer will not work on 5530 kernels cuz it uses phoenix and that won't work on 5530 kernel versions. And there is no way you can downgrade your kernel other than flashing your tsop.
You can install the audio hack manually and sign everything with xbedump. look around on the tutorialz.

you can install any audio hack that you want. your just not going to be able to run PBL, and have to sign all your games in order to play them.

badbox, use the search facility on this forum as you can easily softmod an xbox without hd swpping, if you have struggled to find the information you will struggle to follow it.

simplest easiest way:
buy or make a action replay. you can make an action replay with a xbox controller, a usb cord, a memory card and the necessary drivers.
mechassault or 007

copy the gamesave onto your action replay. copy it onto your xbox hd. launch the gamesave with ma or 007. if you did it right, you will be in evox with the ability to ftp to your box. from there, you can downgrade your dash with slayers cd.

however, i'm not 100% sure on whether a 5530 kernel can be exploited or nt.

you just need a gamesave that brings you to evox to ftp into your xbox and not the gamesave from morden. look in the usual place for 007with evox or ma with evox

QUOTE (badbox @ Feb 7 2004, 05:05 PM)
I think that the kernel matters because we installed live version 1.0 and 4920 as dashboard version but the kernel is the same(5530).We copied files from my friends xbox but his kernel(5101) didn't come along. How can we downgrade the kernel?

If you read the whole thread, you'd notice that krayzie already said that theres no way to downgrade your kernel without flashing your TSOP.

Not to flame you, but you need to use the SEARCH function more.

BadBox - you can only downgrade the Kernel by flashing the TSOP (bios).  Go to the TSOP forum for tutorials on how to do this.

Also if you can boot to evox you can use that to flash your TSOP rather than Raincoat assuming you do not have a Winbond chip.  Look in the TSOP forum for more information on what you have to do.

If you don't want to do that you will just have to use xbedump to sign all your xbe files with -audio (assuming you using a version of st.db that uses -audio, some use -habibi).

It can be modded to run signed xbe's

Got the same kernel as you.

It' will not run PBL no matter how hard u try..

I am using The bert & ernie reloaded hack, and as long as i sign every xbe i ftp to my xbox, everything runs fine.

The font patch well from what I gather

Xbox turns on
Bios is loaded into memory
Dashboard xbe is loaded
this calls on two font files among other files
font files cause an exception error code written into the font files then replaces the public key which is in the xbox's bios in memory (this new public key is know as teh font key) and then loads a specifically named file (prenamed within it's code) that has been signed with the font key

You the xbox bios has been set to only run xbe's (xbox applications) which have been encripted with a public key which matches the one with in itself.

And people seem to be now learning that not only does the code within the patched font files replace the public key in the bios but it also seems to be turning off the media checks on the xbox too.

With the audio patch it replaces the public key in bios with one known as the audio key and I can state that it does indeed remove the media check from the xbox.

Now the off shot of this is that unless you then run something to replace this key or the bios in memory (such as the pheonix bios loader) then everything you want to run (all xbe's) run after the patch has been run have to be encripted with the same public key as the one present in the patch (font, audio etc)

PS the only thing I have ever found that stops the audio patch is the version of the dashboard you have. All you have to do is downgrade to an older dashboard. (you need to wipe the contence of C and replace with an older version).

This is because M$ added in markers to stop the patches from running.
The basics of it are that the audio patch fills up the audio database that's resident in memory saying there are more and more tracks being added to it until the X-Box's memory overflows being too full of the data for the database.

M$ stoped this in later dashboards by making a limit to the number of tracks (soundtracks) you could store on an X-Box, which is why you have to downgrade the dashboard to run the exploit.

And as far as I know the Font patches were only ever made for specific dashboards and not reworked for the newer ones.

to downgrade you just need to replace the dash files (xbodash.xbe, xodash and xboxdashdataxxxx) Some say if you leave the new xbodash.xbe and just replace the two other folders it will not try to update anymore but i haven't checked that personally.
Also the fonts caus some kind of overflow too what the new dashes seem to patch so i'm not sure if they can be written for use with newer dashes.
