Tutorial For Font/audio Exploit
« Reply #75 on: March 18, 2004, 01:48:00 PM »

I was thinking of doing this soon.

I don't know how to make an installer as nice as catfish's though.  I'd like to know how he compressed the ernie.xtf font file.

I may just make it an FTP installation, with options to set it up with almost any font set, and a few different BIOS files.

I am in the process of writing a slightly similer tutorial that uses the latest fonts (catfish) and mordens latest installer, it also includes a new script for the fonts/audio on/off.

You may want to use it, you may not? but it works great for me smile.gif

Just used the audio hack part (not the fonts) and it seemed ok but i had to ftp again the next night and after doing that it messed up the night after. What is it that makes this audio hack unstable?
The softmod kernel is 5101 and dash is 4920 if that helps.
Should i try another audio hack? blink.gif

did you use grospolina's audio hack? the one where you rename linux.xbe simply to exploit. it is more stable in that if you enter the key sequence wrong you won't frag your box.

and i don't know if your using pbl 1.3.5 or 1.4. with a 5101 kernel i would use 1.4 for focus support.

I`ll try that hack tomorrow, thanks.I`m using Pbl1.4, with focus chip.
I wasn`t aware the wrong key sequence(real easy to do) messes up the st.b and i`ve read most of this forum rolleyes.gif

Is it possible to let the MechAssualt/CatFish fonts boot directly in the Phoenix Bios loader?
The Mechassualt/CatFish fonts are really good and seem to fix most of the problems witthe the font exploit but I don't want to select the Phoenix Tab everytime I boot my Xbox.

No it isn't possible. The whole point of the fonts is to boot into the msdash so you can set the clock when it needs to be set. Now unless some very smart dude can  create some fonts that only boot to the msdash when the clock is dead we are supose to stuck with these ones which I don't mind at all. It even comes in handy when you just want to copy over some music, gamesaves or want to watch a dvd movie with your remote.
