Clock Reset/endless Loop Problem Solved ?
« on: December 08, 2003, 11:40:00 AM »

Hi,

Does the method mentioned in http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act...ST&f=45&t=74036 completely solve the endless loop issue ? If not, what is the problem using this method ? It seems to be logical that it should have it solve as it sort of working in the following sequence(if I understand it correctly) :

1. xbox tried to load dashboard
2. font exploit takes over
3. evox is launched
4. evox detects(?) the clock problem and tries to launch MS dashboard
5. MS dashboard(being modified) can find the real fonts it wants and would happily run and set the clock.

I am looking for a safe way to automatically boot linux on an un-moded xbox. This way, there still needs human intervention when the clock is reset but at least, it can still be booted.

regards

just use the official linux fonts. They have no clock loop, but the hacked ones do.

You mean the one with MechInstaller ? I have read report on xbox-linux mailing list that there is clock loop problem too though no one can confirm whether it is true or not. The FAQ on xbox-linux said they don't have this problem but I don't want to get the box in a state that I need to open it in order to restore.

This doesn't work as the xbox reboots somewhere between step 2 and 3. When you are in the clock loop you never make it into Evox.

so eventually it will loop out?  Then I can ftp back into it and fix it?

Usually how long does it take to do that?

ok now it seems that it doesnt even wanna go to the dashboard to change the clock anymore, is that normal?

I can power off completely and turn it back on going directly to evox.
