Hacking Your 1.4/1.5 With Hotswap Technique
« on: December 30, 2003, 10:21:00 AM »

I just got an Xbox and I'm trying to mod it with the audio exploit.  It is definitely 1.4 or 1.5 because I can see the Focus chip.  I followed this tutorial, but instead of HDDriver I used Xlinux.  I have everything copied to where it's supposed to be, but PBL is not working.  I get a black screen that is scrambled.  At the top it says USB and just under that it says "en file F:boot.cfg".  I'm not sure if the F is an F or a P as some other people have said.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Also there is some sort of text at the bottom of the screen, but I can't read it.  All the jpg files are copied over like they should be and I have tried both the cd combo and the cd-less combo.  All get me to that black scrambled screen.  I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Edit: I fixed my own problem.  For some reason PBL 1.3.5i did not work.  I downloaded the older 1.3 and installed it and the box booted fine.  Hopefully this will help out some other people.

if you get the max 100 soundtracks error you messed up the audio exploit. just recopy st.db to the xbox harddrive and dont mess up the button combo again

OK for everybody who is getting a P:bioses..... error i have a fix well it worked for me i used the Xecuter2.4979_bfm_REPACK.rar from the usual places
and i used 4979.67_bfm_256k.bin(the file size on my comp said 1mb(1024) but it says 256 but it works with it being 1024)
and since xbtool would not open the bios i just put evoxdash.xbe in the C: drive and all its necessary files(skins trainers evox ini
now go try the audio exploit and it should work

@Pentium: Thanks for the tips.  This solved my p:bios problem as well.  I've got a 1.4/1.5 xbox (Sept 03, I think; 4920/5101).

I was further able to relocated the evox install directory and further modify the xecuter bios by doing the following.

In the xbtoolConfig folder, move "multi.ini" to "More Configs" and move "More ConfigsDebug.ini" back to xbtoolConfig.
Edit the Debug.ini and copy the RC4 key from boot.cfg (from PBL1.3.5i_signed_audio_exploit) to the RC4_Key= line.

Then, you should be able to open and edit 4979.67_bfm_256k.bin, and start evox from e:evox as described in this tutorial.

What I don't understand is what is the difference between 4979.67_bfm_256k.bin and 4979.67_256k.bin, and how does one get from one version to the other.

Copying debug.ini to the Configs folder is good, but you don't have to move multi.ini from the configs folder. You select the active config file from the BIOS Type drop-down.

i did this technique and now i'm kind of stumped.  I can now load evox but its through the cd copy thing.  Is this how i'm always supposed to load it?  Also my evox dashboard only has a few options MS Dashboard(which doesn't work), reboot, settings(which only has the network settings), and power off.  Is this normal?  What am I supposed to do from here?  Thanks in advance.

If you 'cd copy thing' is the audio hack, then yes, that's the way you're going to startup evox everytime.
You probably have an earlier evox version or a stripped down version. Try evox build 3935.

Anyone tried this method with PBL v1.3?

Is Audio exploit the only one which will work with v1.4/1.5 or will fonts exploit work too?

thank you,
Caio

I did exactly what you said, copied all things to E:, but nothing actually happened. The box played as it was untouched. what's going on?

I also have a doubt here. You did not use any PBL here, how came the system can load teh feenix dashboard?

the audio hack requires you to go through some keypresses before it runs the exploit. doesnt load up right away like the font exploits.

Does this work on a 10-20-03 or later box?  Whats the latest mfg date you guys have got this to work?  Also when I load the hd driver I do not see any drive letters.  I have had to do the work around fatx thing to get hd-driver to run.  Is E:  the system drive?  and which drive is P:?
