Invalid Filename Size Error In Hdd Driver

http://forums.xbox-s...ST&f=45&t=79052

should help you; you will need to get a program called WinHex; first make a backup from hdd_driver...  and then open that backup in WinHex and search for the offsets.

Offsets
0x00080000 = Game Cache A
0x2ee80000 = Game Cache B
0x5dc80000 = Game Cache C
0x8ca80000 = System
0xabe80000 = Data

Um, okay, I followed that, but after I restored the original (just the SYSTEM part., not the whole thing), I got the Invalid Filesize Error again.

k, well what I do is just edit the HD itself.

there's really no need to make backups, restore backups whatever. Just edit the drive, change those 5 hex values. HD Driver will work now. When your done, edit the drive and change them back.

NOT A TUT >> READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH FIRST

A quick note to you guys since i did this on the fly... I need to get to work.
I had the same prob where the system partition was causing hdd_driver to error out.  So, I just zeroed the values between the system partition offset and the user/gave saves offset.  Then, I made sure that the only drive with a FATX partition header was my system drive.  I opened hdd_driver and sure enough, it solved my problem.  Now I have a completely formatted system drive.  Of course, I backed everything up using xPlorer or something that had a dump capability.  So now I can just throw the files back on the drive as I choose using hdd_driver.

Peace out,

ummm...you goto open disc...then you open the disc...then you edit the disc, then save.

i have to do this everytime i mod a box, using this method I can fix HD Driver in about 30seconds, literally, every time, I really don't know why people have such a hard time.

Ok, after you change the five offsets.(Use WinHex if your not. Postion--->Find Offset) from FATX to "....", save and then restore your HD. First Cache 3 (Click it and then OK) Let it restore and then user(same process) Close it HDD Driver and then open it again, Your invalid File size error should be solved. Then install PBL and Evox

Note. You can leave it like this and your XBOX will still boot. (PBL and all), but you cant do anything because you took out your E drive. Just replace those 5 offsets with FATX and restore like you did before.

i have a question regarding this whole procedure. you say we have to change the 5 "fatx" entries to "...." (4 dots).
are the four bytes changed to ...
1. 0x2E 0x2E 0x2E 0x2E (0x2E is the hex ascii code for ".") ?
2. 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 (0x00 is shown in winhex as ".") ?

what is true? 1. or 2. or doesn't that matter as long as the string is not "fatx" any more? does anyone know more about that?
