QUOTE (BluhDeBluh @ Nov 10 2003, 02:00 AM)
Since NTSC and PAL boxes are the same except for a different bios, why wouldn't it work? In fact, any region MechAssault will work on any non-chipped region machine! I have a NTSC copy here  laugh.gif

Actually, the BIOS is the same.

The only difference between "PAL" and "NTSC" Xbox's is in the EEPROM settings, video and region is different.

And of course your more likely to get lucky with a US/NTSC Xbox.

like i said dude go alllll out with this puppy its probably gunna be one of the last chances for a working exploit we get.

we will wait test it work it, twist it and then make it push the exploit to its extreme.

what i see already, just from what your posting, your doing a phenominal job of making sure it installs and if it dont you can restore your status.

im eager to see it.

This is a nice install method... thanks for the tut.  I did it flawlessly with 007, and just installed the fonts from the first page.

One thing that needs to be clarified is that these fonts do NOT eliminate the clock loop entirely.  I left the box unplugged overnight to test this, and when I turned it on this morning, it looped about 10 times, before it finally brought up the MSDASH.  The nice thing is, it DID bring up the MSDASH, but not before looping quite a bit.

I think that the audio hack is still the preferred method for people who unplug their boxes regularly, although this one is probably a second best.

By the looks of the Readme file that was posted, you can run this using the Audio Hack anyway. Now Its a little confusing as to how this works until the installer is done. But I assume it will work the same as using Fonts.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

There are several.

The first is the check for the existance of 'vmlinuz' & 'linuxboot.cfg'. Without these file present the fonts die...

The second is to check for the string 'TUX!' at a certain offest within the XBE.

There may be more, we'll just have to see!

i assumed security was security as in things ms and the xbox dont like to see,, as in if a game or live searches for something inparticular then refuses to run if it see's it

if a game would look for something before it runs wouldnt it be a matter of simply patching it & backing it up?

only in the simplist of securities,,, but its MS,, and if they wanted to check for something,, like i mentioned,, then they are going to do it quick and fast and its going to be encrypted while it does it.

either that or maybe a simple,, hello xbox what version are you,, and if it reports back a non xbox bios (which PBL does) then it locks or crashes or refuses to run.
