copy the text, then put it into a txt file and rename the extenstion to .b64 then open with winzip and extract the file (readme.zip) then open that file with winzip and extract that file (readme.htm)

or you could get a MIME program to open it like makavelif50 suggested

Either way works ok

whoa this looks like it could be the next big thing for the modless comunnity
add ability to choose your dash, bios, some  sort of auto updater (for the installer or downloading new bios and dash versions and installing on command?) and you would have the complete newbie's tool to not having a mod chip i releize all/most of that is completly unnessary, but it would pop it up there as the all in one, jack off all trades, but master of some, pakage (dont forget, with this thing, no newbies going "err21? wtf?!" and "i got owned by the clock loop") plus, it would simplify the whole thing, making soft modding a friend's box a 5 min job.

just my 2 bits

from the readme i get the impression that mechinstaller only works on NTSC xboxes.
Anyone tried it on PAL machines yet.

and overkill ?

its been said enough,, the exploits has a limited life span and already the next challenge is hnearly upon us (M$ Links 2004) anyone want to take a guess if it will work for us exploit people ? i bet its going to fight us, but might work with a little hexing.

what they are doing goes being any hack yet, next to linux.
i mean come on an update type tool ? omfg!
not to mention that it does a total C drive back up. so you better clear out your E drive.

i would STILL like to see this thing run 100% from the E drive since i still think M$ is going to start searching our C drives for things like PBL and or fonts/audio hacks. and either replacing them, and killing the hack, or popping up a message stating "your xbox has been modified you cannot play this game until the original hard drive status is returned to normal."
so the more they can do, the longer this little toy will survive and we wont have to fork over cash for a chip (which i think is gunna be my xmax gift anywas, just waiting for X3 to see what she can do.)

the xbox retail bios looks for fonts and the msdash on the c drive, how could it run completely from the e drive then?

And i dont think its really needed to have a 007 installer, but surely it should be possible to release some kind of package that people could install manually over ftp? I sure as hell aint gonna buy mechassault when ive already fot ftp acces to my xbox

It'll by far be the best thing that's happened to softmodding

I'm sure you already know, you can use/look at the source code of Morden's audio hacks. Morden also has a 007 installer, so like this you may be able to add 007 support, even though it's not that important anyways (for now maybe)...

Since NTSC and PAL boxes are the same except for a different bios, why wouldn't it work? In fact, any region MechAssault will work on any non-chipped region machine! I have a NTSC copy here  laugh.gif
