So does this actually work with entirely soft mods or no? I've only seen one reply that said it worked...

i can confirm this, i just first copied everything from my c drive and e drive.
btw, i had bert and ernie reloaded already installed.
so newayz, i went into evox then pop in slayers, launch dvd.
switch the hdds.
then go to option 6)format options.
go to where it says full clean format of large hd, select that.
then when its done formatting, i just went to the settings to get the ip info, used flashfxp to ftp into it.
then i copied my backed up c and e drive accordingly.
then go into slayers option 8) eeprom/hd management
then go to lock drive.
voila
dont forget to edit your evox.ini to recognize the g drive if your hdd is bigger than 137 gb
and you need to create the games and apps folders in f drive. other than that it was easy.
btw i also am able to get to the ms dash as well. just the way that i set it up

ne other questions, im usually around, just post

You might want to give dummy files a shot. I believe there is a tutorial floating around. Im not real enlightened on media for xbox drives. I am still confused about the HD upgrade with a softmod (for me, audio exploit). Can this be done with slayers? I know there are other methods for softmods, but they are long and tedious. If the easy HD upgrade with Slayers can be done without a modchip or TSOP, that would be great.

I do the all the steps as listed but after it is done formatting the drive I get a HD that has C, E, F, G, H, X, Y, and Z partitions but they are all empty but are shown as full and cannot be written to.

The H partition has alot of odd folders in it named random numbers and letters.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hmmm, now it wont even start the formatting process, it just locks up when it starts writing config sector

ne0 the first thing he said was make sure ur xbox is softmodded...since slayerz (mines 2.1) says u need a bios that loads evoxdash.xbe first i'm presuming u need phoenix bios loader, put cd in after evox loads, uhmmm then launch teh dvd? but i still don't get how this works...it seems WAY too simple

what does "launch dvd" do according to ur evox? perhaps it's just restarting it so it loads as if u just put the cd in and turned the xbox on
i would prefer someone with at least 50 posts to confirm that this method works cuz it seems just way too easy

I just did it, it worked flawlessy. Usually the biggest stumbling block is getting your drive to read the slayer cdrw disc.
If it does read it, the rest is a breeze.

Maybe you want to add this to the tutorial.
Make sure to leave your crossover cable connected or have a way of reapplying the game save/audio exploit
through the process. I have the save on my computer but I can't transfer it because the network cable wasn't connected when I started the whole procedure.

My friend has my 007 disc and memory card, I'll need them to reapply the audio exploit.

Also make sure to go into settings and note the new IP address settings.

It works, as long as you have a soft modded box and the replacement hard drive is lockable. The key is the slayer auto-installer, it does all the work.

I'm sitting here looking at the slayer's menu and noting the IP address changes in the settings.
I thought it was too simple too when a friend brought it to my attention, but decided to try and i'm
glad i did. I just swapped the old xbox hd with an 80gb maxtor.

I can understand his/her sckepticism, it does seem a bit too easy.
I think it should definitely be a sticky. It's virtually effortless.
Some older boxes with Thompson drives might have trouble reading
the cdrw. Mine was ok, my friend is having difficulty with his.

I got a Thompson drive and I had to try 2 or 3 times before it would read my Memorex CD-RW. If it dont work, try try try again.... Unless u got a bad burn.
