Got it working now - did something stupid and only just noticed it. I accidentally deleted boot.cfg!

My tutorial is now UPDATED!

I've included my own custom fonts there for e:feenix because that is my preferred location of choice smile.gif

When i click Pheonix in nailed's fonts, the box resets. When i reset the xbox, sometimes it gets stuck on the dash, sometimes it resets and sometimes its normall. These fonts act like the first version of mechinstaller. Thier wierd.

The advantages to using this over the old exploit is that it's easy to access both the dashboard and EvoX with little alteration and that the clock bug supposedly doesn't last as long with this.

I don't see why everyone cares so much about the clock bug anyway. Load Mech Assault, load EvoX, disable the fonts, set the time, re-enable the fonts.

If anyone wants a quick way of installing/uninstalling this exploit, add this into their evox.ini/ Add this bit after Section "Root" but before the last close bracket

QUOTE

Section "MechInstaller-EvoX"
{
Item "Activate Mech Installer",@212
Item "Deactivate MechInstaller",@213
}

Then put this at the end:
QUOTE

[Action_12]

Info "Activate MechInstaller-EvoX"
Warning "This will turn on font exploit"
Progress "Turning on font exploit..."
rename "c:\fonts\ernie.bak" "c:\fonts\ernie.xtf"
rename "c:\fonts\bert.bak" "c:\fonts\bert.xtf"
rename "c:\fonts\XBox Book.xtf" "c:fonts\XBox Book.bak"
rename "c:\fonts\XBox.xtf" "c:\fonts\XBox.bak"

[Action_13]

Info "Deactivate MechInstaller-EvoX"
Warning "This will turn off font exploit"
Progress "Turning off font exploit..."
rename "c:\fonts\ernie.xtf" "c:\fonts\ernie.bak"
rename "c:\fonts\bert.xtf" "c:\fonts\bert.bak"
rename "c:\fonts\XBox Book.bak" "c:\fonts\XBox Book.xtf"
rename "c:\fonts\XBox.bak" "c:\fonts\XBox.xtf"

This will allow you to turn on/off this as you please. Make sure you put a couple of blank lines at the end of your .ini if you do this though smile.gif

So has anyone updated mechinstaller so that will install PBL, It will greatly help the people who are having problems (mine works just fine, but it would still be nice to have an installer to quickly remove and install it), maybe whoever could make 2 versions (some people like it in E: feenix and some people like it in C:)

and if it has already been created, when will it be in the usual places ??

I agree with xboxhakur, lets not step on their toes, they have done a great job and without all thier hard work this wouldnt have happened, I like the idea of keeping it legal (so it can be freely distributed accross the net), everyone knows where to get the bios and evox

Can anyone tell me where to get a command reference for EvoX, as all I'm using at the moment is "rename"?

just another observation but why do you have your installer/uninstaller for mech to show in evox having the font in the C drive,, they dont go there,, they go in the fonts folder..

yes or no .

if you dont do it right she aint gunna work.

and i got no clock bug ,, i got a nice clock - date and time that shows the todays date and time. not july 4th like it did before.

probably because evox is contacting the time server thru the network ?

Thier is also the copy command for evox

copy "path of file or directory to copy here" "path to copy file or directory to"

example:

copy "e:\UDATA\" "c:\"   would copy the whole udata folder to the c drive
copy "e:\xboxdash.xbe" "e:\UDATA\" would copy xboxdash to the UDATA folder on e:

This forum removes each backslash - they are in the fonts folder.

Well, at least you did figure out how to manually install them.  I've tested my fonts for the clock loop... came right out of it with one reset.  Major props to the XBox-Linux team for an impressive hack.

So how did it come out did it just go back to the dash or did it go to the set time menu part

This is really cool!

But if I understand correctly. Your xbox boots to a hacked dash, from there you can select phoenix and it loads up evox.

Or can you alter it so that the fonts load, phoenix loads and then evox loads. So that you just have the 'normal' bigfontz startup, but without a clock loop... smile.gif
