Important Exploit Information
« on: October 19, 2003, 05:57:00 PM »

My previous post

I am running two HD's with a switch.  Someone replied to my post saying that I could switch back to my original unmodded xbox hd and just set the clock to fix the loop.  Is that a true fix?  I have only been using the font exploit for a few days and it was not looped yet, but I also have not unplugged my xbox either.
Can any one confirm this to work?  I can force my xbox into loop if I have to, but would rather not with out confirmation.

Now is this a sureway fix different then what is stated in number 9 below or is it the same as a HD swap.  I believe when you say a HD swap, you mean to hot-swap the hd, put original fonts in, and set the time.

QUOTE
9 The only fix for the clock-loop is to HD swap or use a mod-chip. (waiting it out is not a fix, it's submission)

if your orignal hd doesent have the font expolite on it then yes you could put it back in and get out of the loop. like i say all the time dont use the font expolits couse of the clock bug. the only one that doesent clock loop is the mech assalt linux installer. but i dont think it runs anything but the xbox in orignal mode and linux. no homebrew. witch is very odd for a expolite to be able to run orignal games without rehasing or the bios loader. (can you say m$ rca key)

QUOTE (Xboxhakur @ Oct 24 2003, 08:06 AM)
This post will show how to recover the dash and fonts using Mech, 1 copy of a valid "Xbox Book.xtf" (any version) and 10 of your original XIP files.

This doesn't work without the list of files I am going to provide. It can be fooled by using "dummy" xip files, but the dummies will generate error 21 upon reboot, so there is no point in that. Also, I don't know how to recover the audio dir, so that must be intact on C:.
Although "Xbox.xtf" is not required, it is the font that is used when errors occur, if it's not there and u get an error, the Xbox will freeze.

If u actually need this type of recovery, start the Mech game-save exploit and immediately copy the entire contents of C: to your PC.
Now delete everything except the "Audio" directory from the Xbox's C:.
Place these files in the root of C: (filename - size)

dvd.xip - 166,994
Keyboard.xip - 657,751
music_copy3.xip - 1,618,611
music2.xip - 2,007,608
Settings_Clock.xip - 1,684,138
settings_list.xip - 2,928,702
settings_panel.xip - 2,732,966
settings_parental.xip - 1,008,374
settings_timezone.xip - 1,371,179
settings_video.xip - 1,978,182
XBox Book.xtf - 14,440,996 (OR) 17,068,868

Power off after the copy finishes.
Power on the Xbox.
Start Mech. Select multiplayer. Select Xbox Live. Hit X. Hit A.
That's it, u have restored your files from the dashupdate application. Now go make a backup of the updated files.

P.S. if anyone knows of or wants to create a compatible xtf file for use with dashupdate.xbe, I'm sure it would help alot of ppl. (must be "legal" to distribute)

thats all you have to put on your C drive.... is it ok if i upload them from my friends xbox and put them on mine, he has the same version xbox as me...

another thing, it's a good idea to keep:
a copy of your hddkey/password and other info on paper
a nice thick packet of detailed instructions on how to do hdd upgrade and repair a botched font exploit
a write protected floppy containing
......unlockx (or similiar utilities)
......ghost (or another bit/bit hdd cloner)
a bootable cd with xlinux

Put all that in one of those big fat envelopes and you got an xbox repair kit wink.gif

i was trying to do the fonts exploit, but it would never work for me, so i would put in the 007 AUF and run the exploit again. Well i coudlnt get it to work, but i backed all my files up. it was getting late so i thought i'd do it in the morning. well i come home to do it, and now when i put in the 007 or mechassault or any game it wont run, it trys to go to the MS dash but then says the xbox requires service, and it doesnot loop, it just stays on teh Your Xbox Needs Service screen.

also, i used mad gouku's guide found here: http://quikboard.com/xboxxx/part1.html

i downloaded the files adn i installed them like it sayed, but unlike the guide sayed, mine had a font folder AND the files in teh C drive. so i put the font exploit files in both folders, the "c" folder, and the fonts folder in "C"

this is a friends xbox

what i want to no is can i put in my audio exploited hardrive (stock xbox hdd) into his?
or can i plug the hdd into a spare ide slot on the pcc and load the fiels from there

p.s. i duno my hdd code etc.

peace

OK, let me see if I got this straight. To restore my 5659 dash to 4920, I need to:
1) Make a backup of my entire C drive
2) Delete all files on the C drive except the audio folder
3) Copy the 11 files you listed from the backup on my PC to the C: of the XBox
4) Copy the old versions (4920) of keyboard.xip and settings_panel.xip to the C: of the XBox
5) Reboot the XBox and run MA live option, and let it update my dash back to 4290

Is this correct?

Why not just download slayer's evox auto-installer and extract the 4920 dash from there? Then u can just copy the entire dash over to you xbox and replace every file there is on it.

I ran live before I installed any exploits and it upgraded. I then put the slayer files on it (making backups of the old C drive ofcourse) and it worked and is now a 4920 dash.

No need for a Mechassault Live thingie there if you don't have Mechassault.
