Phoenix Bios Loader 1.3
« on: October 03, 2003, 04:05:00 PM »

Hiya.

I've been on my xbox since 5:00pm and it's now 00:48am and it still isn't working. Here goes, I'm trying to get Phoenix Bios Loader to work. When I load it under Evolution X or Boxplorer it hangs, as if the program doesn't load (I.E no LED sequence showing).

So I update my bios from Evox D6 Eject Fix and an old Gentoox bios to Xecutor 4978.03 and latest Gentoox Cromwell bios. Under Xecuter 4978.03 it hangs, a lad at www.xboxopensource.com suggested me to switch to this bios (well 4977, similar thing 4978.03 cept it has FTP). So that problem is isolated (still hanged at evolution x screen).

So next he sends me his working phoenix bios loader with a correct RC4 key (can't post for legal reasons) and a 5558 Debug bios so I can boot my XDK setup. I know XDK works because I flash Evox d6 Eject Fix and TATX Debug bios to my Xecutor 2.1 Lite (a while a go now) and that loaded alright but it was very wavy on the TV (TATX side). So no problems on the XDK side.

Ok, he says this structure works.

Boot.cfg
Default.xbe
keyboot.cfg
phoenix.raw
xboxrom.bin (even tried putting it in biosxboxrom.bin)

On his Xbox. I've tried it in E:5558default.xbe and C:5558default.xbe

Does not work.

Any f0king ideas? Would be nice help, I know this isn't really an exploit but I didn't get much response in the development forum.

Here is boot.cfg example (no RC4 key)

CODE

Romfile xboxrom.bin
#AltRomfile xboxrom2.bin
RC4Key#
LEDSequence oggg
Debug false

Theres no EEPROM key as it's a debug bios, he said this works on his Xbox.

A screenshot to prove my XDK works.

If you go to this site "http://freexevoxtut....com/index2.htm" Mad Gouki has wrote a tutorial on how to use the P.B.L  wink.gif  there is also a link there to download the signed P.B.L !! this comes with the X2 4977 bios already in it and signed (even the rc4 key) just install like he says and it works great I recommend installing on the C: drive that way the P.B.L loads 1st than Evox or dashboard of chioce. the X2 4977 seems to be a great bios the only game I cant run is Enter the Matrix I use a secondary Bios for that (Evox6) and remember that the font hacks need a boot from media bios  rolleyes.gif  hope this helps

Ok, I redownloaded 1.3 from #xbins because I had files everywere. Punched in the RC4 key. Copied the debug bios over. And phoenix files, plus phoenixboot but still hangs (RC4 only required by debug).

Thats really annoying. I've tried almost everything to get phoenix bios loader to work, I mean I would of thought it would work better on a chipped xbox. It's so annoying because I have no way to get into XDK now if phoenix bios loader doesn't work.

Hi m8

My friend had exactly the same problem. We had used the 007 to get to evox then installed it.

Now when we switched on his xbox it went straight to EVOX

The next step was to get get the pheonix bios loader on. We got the signed version from mad goks site which should have just worked but it didnt. Every time we loaded it it just hung on a black screen and didnt do anything.

---
This was solved however by downloading the Easy pheonix bios loader took. This program was excellent. Basically you load evox on your xbox and then the EPBL on your PC. You can select which exploit you want Font or Audio and which bios. It then is an automated process. The program copies all the files over to your xbox.

We then restarted the xbox and bingo Pheonix bios loader worked 100%.

So my suggestion is get the easy pheonix bios loader

Hiya, thank you for your experience comments. Here's what I'm planning to do. Download phoenix bios loader; test each version from the beginning to 1.3. If that fails (testing with different bioses) then I will unselect IGR in Evox INI (bearing in mind I have a chipped Xbox). Then if that doesn't work I encourage you guys to send me your "working" Phoenix Bios Loader configuration as a last resort. I have a version 1.1 Xbox by the way.
