Is Your Chip A Genuine Xodus?
« on: December 17, 2003, 05:36:00 PM »

Since there are many people who have recently purchased a Chameleon mod chip and are a bit confused as to where it came from, I thought I would clear a few things up.

When Team Xodus and EasyBuy2000 severed their business relationship, they were both in possession of the Chameleon design.  As many of you know, EB2K took care of the manufacturing while they were business partners.  However, for lack of a formal contract, after they parted ways EB2K continued to manufacture and distribute chips as usual, calling them Chameleons.  In any other industry, there would have been a patent on the Chameleon, and EB2K would have been given limited license to manufacture and distribute Chameleons.  This license would have been terminated with the end of their deal, and EB2K would be committing a patent infringement.  However, given the shaky legal ground of the modchip, none of this happened, and there's really nothing Xodus can do about EB2K manufacturing and distributing these "Chameleon" chips.

It is not accurate to call chips recently manufactured by EB2K "fake".  They are chips created according to the Chameleon designs.  However, it would not be accurate to call them Xodus products.  They were not made under Xodus' supervision, and they had no input on the manufacturing and quality control of these chips.  It would be more appropriate to call these third-party chips EB2K Chameleons.

If your chip has a red LED, has Matrix switches, and/or was purchased from EB2K after December 16th, 2003, you are officially an owner of an EasyBuy2000 Chameleon.  If you are having problems with your chip, please contact Easybuy2000.

Otherwise, you are likely the owner of a genuine Xodus Chameleon.  If you are having problems with your chip, please contact the vendor from which you purchased your mod chip, or contact Team Xodus.
