You tell people to write down the hard drive key but what you want is the password not the key. That could cause mucho problems for people. The key and the password are two seperate things.

I have every step done besides relocked the new drive, it's set to +F and that one suggestion that bruder_s gave out does not work because my bios don't have any of those options that he said to change. So, help? I'm begging you....

You might have to enable the F drive in your dashboard, u can do that in the system settings/options menu.

quick question
I followd the tutorial and everything worked, put in new hd (seagate 160gb).
Xbox only sees it at the same size as the original, where are my other 150 gigs?
Is there something else i have to do
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Umm I dun have a floppy drive on my computer so I can boot from the cd drive but my question is do you have to have each of the harddrives set up as the master drives becuase I wont be able to do that because I have to have the cd-rom as one of the master drives to boot from it.  what do you think I should do?

Okay, so I did something dumb.  I got the replacement HD cloned, got to the locking stage, and used the wrong key to lock the HD.  The key is bd9e02bc9d9bebb6cde045998000bf3a.  Is there any app that will generate the appropriate unlock code for me?  I know this was a dumb move, but any help in the matter would be considerably appreciated.

Guess what ... if that's the key you locked it with, the key to unlock it is .... : bd9e02bc9d9bebb6cde045998000bf3a (no need to check, it's identical to the one you jotted down yourself)

Amazing huh?

Use any of the hdd (un)lock tools that come with xboxhdm and you'll be fine!

(Oh ... there are tutorials on using the tools)

Okee, thanx much for all the help.  I feel like such a noob, and I'm really not.  I tried that code like eight or nine times using unlockx.  Check it with atapwd, and it still shows the HD as being locked.  I double and triple checked the locking code before I hit enter, but to no avail.  Have yet to try xboxhdm, but will give an update in a few mins.

(and I've read the tuts on the tools)

Well, looks like my guide is outdated, guys... same old thing still stands though.  Glad someone made a tool for it.  So go out and use XBHDM.  I know I will...
