Make Live 2 Audio Exploit Work. Simple.
« on: January 07, 2004, 05:41:00 AM »

so this does NOT work with font?

what about if i am running font and audio.
when audio is on, the font files are renamed to bert/ernie.XFT and the retail xbox/xbox book.XTF.

is that what you did kuwamuamu? i am still planning to use this with audio. like would this work?

have font and audio but only utilize live with font off and audio on? i mean, with font off and audio on isn't it booting to the retail ms dash?

please post ideas. thanks.

after i did the file/folder swap i did get a few updates. rainbow 6 updated, cs, wolfenstein...all gave me updates. but they were wierd updates. it would start to update the dash, the bar would start but not finish...and it would say 'update finished, started updated dash'.

worked fine. font and audio still work.

If my friend uses the audio exploit..and evox.ini, evoxdash.xbe and skins reside on his C: and not E:

when he updates the dash...can he leave those on C: and just replace xboxdash.xbe and xboxdashdata#### with the old ones and it will still work fine??

or does his evox stuff still need to be on E:??

one more question:  can you just replace xboxdash.xbe and leave the new DATA folder on your xbox so it doesn't ask to update??

my evox stuff is on my C drive. when i did the exploit i made backups of my xboxdash.xbe and xboxdashdata folder. i updated to live 2.0, and then replaced my xboxdash.xbe and xboxdashdata folder with the ones i backed up from live 1.0. if your evox stuff resides on the E, then i don't believe it would be effected. you should still replace the live 2.0 files with your 1.0 ones though.

^ have you tried replacing just XBOXDASH.XBE?  and not the data folder?

What happens when you put and older game in such as Crimson Skies that needs an update?  Do you let it update?  Does that affect the audio hack in any way or is that just updating files for that specific game?

i haven't tried just swapping out the xboxdash.xbe's, but you can try. worst case scenario you might get error 21 and have to boot to the gamesave.

now i updated my dash to live 2.0 with rainbow 6. i swapped out the files/folders and live worked fine. now i through in MA to play on live. it asked me to update, so i let it. the audio hack still worked fine. i also did a update with nfl fever 04.

when you do the update as stated ^...when you click the xbox live tab from the msdash, it goes to the live 1.0 xbox live. not the 2.0 one where you can access your friends list, live chat, ect.

now after the update from MA i believe...when i accessed the live button from the msdash, it would start up...then boot right back to the msdash. audio still worked though, as well as font.

^ sounds good man...

I will just do what you did then..as long as the dash doesn't try to update I will be fine.

I do this on my friends systems because I have a chip.  I will have to try JUST xboxdash.xbe on someone just to see what happens.  We'll see...

you can try it. it may work.

and like i said, you may still recieve updates. but the weird thing with the updates...they don't update all the way. when i 'needed' a update for fever 2004, it booted me back to the ms dash where it started an update, got about an 1/8th of the way through when it stopped and started the game.

Hey, I just finished trying this and it works fine (no fonts just audio)!  Excellent discovery Reno_000!
JBNinja99:  I haven't tried to do an update yet, what other games trigger updates so I can try it out?

Btw, shouldn't this be linked from the tutorials post?

you need the dash data folder

there are 2 differnt data folders, you can have both of them on there, but like live 1.0 needs one of the folders and the 2.0 dash needs the other

if you just change the xbe you will get an error

I updated to 2.0, reinstalled slayers c:/, went back to the live tab and it wanted me to update to 2.0 again. I didn't delete any files or folders, just overwrote what was necessary with slayers c:/ backup being used.

It just keeps going in a circle, updating to 2.0, not letting me use audio hack. So I ftp through AUF, reinstall the c:/ works fine untill I click the live tab.

I didn't try just booting a game that works on live, (stupid me), but if I don't click on the xbox live tab.. theoretically I should load in Rainbow Six 3 (legit copy) it will prompt me to update to 2.0, go half way through then shut down, reboot and be ready to play?

Everytime you insert Rainbow Six 3, does it prompt for the update?

Why? oh Why?

Is this NOT in the Tutorials sticky?

It seems to be a LOT better than the one on that list?? AS you cannot boot the XBL2 dash from that...

you should be able to still boot to a gamesave. i don't know what you could have done though. just copying the xboxdashdata folder and xboxdash.xbe file to your C overwriting the 2.0 ones.
