Newbie here.  Hopefully these are quick easy answers for someone : )

How can you tell if you have Live 2.0 already?

If I don't care about playing on Live, can I use the audio exploits with 2.0 Live already on?

Do the new Tetris/Clone Bundles already have Live 2.0 standard?

Thanks.  I bought my XBox 2 days ago.  I was connected to Live but didnt sign up although it updated and rebooted.

If i'm out of luck I can return and get a new one today if Live one doesnt come standard.

Also, Does Mechassault give you live 1.0 without connecting to the net?

Thanks for the answers : )  I'll be heading to the store pending the responses.

keane,

That is NOT what I meant.

I was informed by a good source that periodically it will look for updates EVEN WITH THAT OPTION TURNED OFF!

Why does it seem to be so hard for people to grasp this concept?

My question is,
why does everybody have their xbox connected to the 'net? Keep the box unplugged from your switch/hub/router until you need ftp. If you use xbconnect/etc, run it from evox so the M$ dash isn't running.

I just filtered the XBox's MAC on my router, that MAC isn't allowed to talk to the outside world!

So is there any way to use the audio exploit if you've already updated to live 2.0, and didnt back up the C: partition?

right, a mate just brought me his xbox asking me if i can softmod it. The thing is, he already updated with live and has no backup of his c drive.
Can i just overwrite his c drive with mine, eventho my xbox is much older and has a different kernel etc?

Didn't M$ already take a bunch of flack for autoupdating to 2.0?
Installing something on someone's system without prior autorization has got to be completely illegal.

Can you imagine purchasing a PC game and having it tell you that it's going to change the way your operating system works, and then not give you the option to decline?  (And even if you did decline, is the store going to take the game back?  No, because you've opened it.)

The only way I see around that is, if they make you agree to accept certain changes to your system in order continue to use Live play.  But then what about people who don't agree?  The newer games are going to update your system anyway.

I was a Live beta tester, and maybe I missed it, but I don't ever remember agreeing that M$ could make changes without notice.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying M$ Live isn't going to autoupdate.  I'm just saying that I don' think it's right.
