The BIOS does not check the net for a time.

Evox, does...

But it is known that having a network cable plugged in sometimes pulls you out of the loop.

If you understand how NTP (Network Time Protocol) works you would see why. NTP doesn't use broadcasts, so the question is, how does the BIOS, or the MSDash (whatever you think is setting the time) know what IP to get the time from? It doesn't. But I am assuming that you have configured the IP of the machine running the NTP server in your Evox.ini. So what happens is:

1. Box loops.
2. It finally makes it into Evox.
3. Evox sets the time.

This gives the appearnce that the time got set and pulled it out of the loop. In reality, the net line being plugged in probably slowed the watchdog enough to get you up into Evox, then Evox set the time.

I looked into this quite a bit, and finaly decided to go with the audio exploit, but I am still trying to keep up with the internals of the font exploit, and with the way they work this can't do it alone.

its a funny thing to try and understand, but if i let it loop it would loop for ever for days infact, but ive tested this, i let it loop and loop no joy, but the moment i plug in the network it works, straight away, now if i connected to the network without the broadband internet connection it will continue to loop but once this has been connected evox boots straight away, its strange i know but it works 100% of the time for me.

So in my understanding when the xbox boots it checks for the time on the xbox if it cant find it it tries the network if not present it asks for a users input, this is where the loop happens because of the fonts have taken over the operations of the dashboard to launch the evox dashboard, now its very strange that the moment its connected to the network it boots flawlesly but if it did not have the connection it would boot forever, its worth more investigation, because i have a solution that works for me so it should work for others.

im willing to do some test for this, just tell me what you want me to do, because i would love to get to the bottom of this, we have all valid points but i do suspect its something to do with evox and not ms dash, as i did some tests of my own, i changed to the audio exploit, just to check if the xbox asked for the time when left off for a number of hours, so i connected to network and internet connection , and switched on, but the msdash asked for the time, so it did not get the time from the network.
