hmm, i thought HDD_Driver was supposed to see it, and that you didn't need any other programs.  I'll try it though, thanks for the help smile.gif

What is this hdd unlocker thing supposed to do?  Isn't it just for setting passwords for use with evoX? Or do I need to run the hddisabl.exe program on it?

i booted into dashboard, let it sit til it dimmed, pulled the IDE. Turned on my computer, paused at RAM check, plugged in IDE, space bar to resume and let windows fire up normally.  HDD Unlocker either says "i looked everywhere and can;t find an xbox hd" or "i found one, here it is" and you can backup and then add the files

This is the exact same problem I have, including trying it on 2 PC's.  Maybe the Xlinux method would be better, since it doesn't have to go though shitty stupid Windows.

It boots your computer into a form of linux that can recognise the xbox HDD, and I've just got it from #xbins on Efnet.  It's not worth using unless you really know what you are doing with it...

So I'm guessing that my drive never unlocks.  I've left it for about twenty mins (the screen darkens after 4) and I still have the same problem.  I can hear the HDD accessing every ten or twenty seconds, so I dont think it ever has the chance to spin down.  I'll try deleting recent savegames, and see if that helps.

Boy,

I am telling you do the XLINUX route.  It is soooooo much easier.

I'll bet you money if you do even get the HDD program to start up
and find your drive in XP, you will not get past the infinite errors
bug.

Just read the XLINUX tutorial message here.

I could not get through the infinite errrors problem under XP.

First time trying XLINUX and it worked perfectly.

I've put the exploit on three systems now.
All via XLINUX.  Everything you need to do is in the tutorial.

TRY IT....YOU'LL LIKE IT.

To unlock drive using the ol hotswap , start a game, pause then wait few secs and swap drive. U still need HDD Driver program to back up drive, you are going to back up aren't you? Then definately use xlinux to complete the hack.

I've hot swapped doxens of times and I just wait about 5 seconds after evoX loads, no need for any longer wait then that.

i agree with the rest of what you said, but these guys are trying to swap from msdash...
