Tutorial- Bigger Harddrive No Linux

Help PLEASE!!!
I get an error 06 with both my Original Xbox HDD and the New HDD, i unlocked with unlockx using the HDD key from Evox backup, then after doing the cloning in WinHEx, I Got the new key using eeprom.bin in liveinfo, after that i reeboted and then locked both HDd drives again, the orgial with the first key from evox backup and the new one using the one liveinfo gave me...

What i think i did wrong was: i unlocked the original HDD with the key and included many 0's  at the end of the key, exactly as the .txt file and then when i locked the original back again i didnt inlude the 0's...

May this be the problem, if so what can i do to fix it im so SCARED i fried my xbox!!!
Thanx for replies unsure.gif

EDIT:
I managed to get the new HDD Working beacuse i used a wrong password to lock it, in live info i saved the stuff to a .cfg, and ussed the HDDKey that came in there but i was supposed to use he Calculated Password.... My bad...

As for the Original  HDD i tried to UNlock it again the way i locked it before but i tink i really messed up when typing the Lock password again, i think i misstyped...

Is there any way for me to wipe the old password, unlock the Original HDD or get the Lock password for me to get the Original HDD to work again...?

okay i'm having a HUGE problem...

i put my xbox hd on my primary ide as slave. my wd 80gb on my secondary ide as master. went into unlockx. all three drives (including my pc C) we showed as NOT LOCKABLE. ??

so anyway, i go into config magic and unlock my xbox hd. boot into windows and clone my xbox hd to my 80gb. cloning goes with no problem.

so i'm all done, go to lock my hd. open unlockx...still shows my hd's as NOT LOCKABLE!! when i boot up to my new hd in my xbox i get error 6, same with my old xbox hd. sad.gif

i tried booting my second xbox to configmagic and swapping hd's to lock my new 80gb and my old xbox hd. both say drive isn't lockable.

why would i get this error? obviously my xbox hd is lockable. and i checked the lockablity of my wd 80gb. it's lockable. why would i get this error in unlockx? should i try another program to unlock?

also, in configmagic after unlocking/locking my hd it says 'setting mpassword to TEAMASSEMBLY'. but it still shows the hd password as a long series of numbers. any ideas? please, i don't want my xbox to be screwed.

okay figured it out. i didn't realize i had to disconnect my PC C hd in order to unlock. the wd 80gb said lockable and unlocked. locked it with the hd key and it's fine.

but i'm still having trouble with my original xbox 8gb. it is showing in unlockx as lockable and locked. but it still won't boot in the xbox.

i used TEAMASSEMABLY as the unlock password. should i try the long key?

i'll post my results.

allright, it worked. just had to type in the long key for the password. both hd's work in my xbox now!

on to my next problem...i can't seem to format my F drive. sad.gif
i tried using the evox way copying the code into my evox.ini. it 'formated' but after it was done and i rebooted there was no extra space.
i tried raw ftp commands 'Formatpath DeviceHarddisk0Partition3' and 'FormatDrive 'number'' and that too did not work.

any ideas?

btw - excellent tutorial sabwafare. very easy to do.

UnlockX is only usable with a 1.0 or 1.1 ?!? Fuck no how else can I get the key for my new drive ?!? And which section of Liveinfo am I taking the new key from ? Cause none seem to fit..

i used unlockx on my 1.5 box. worked fine.

and you load your eeprom.bin from your orignal xbox hd in liveinfo. then use the caluculated password to lock your new hd.

Has anyone tried this with Norton Ghost?

I tend to use that to clone disks, and I know WinHex is not a FREE tool as such, so I have Ghost so why not eh?

Only problem is I do not remember Ghost having the "Start at 0" option..

But it clones Windows disks just fine so  beerchug.gif

ok, i am also thinking of hotswapping hardrives inside an xbox that is softmodded

1. take softmodded xbox and boot up from slayers disk 2.5
2. hotswap hardrives
3. run setup hardrive and install evox + apps

(to do most of the work)

and then somehow unlock it somewhere else.. i wouldnt mind trying this and failing, but i dont want to cause damage to the xbox.

edit: another interesting thought.. forcing it to refresh by backing up eeprom and hardrive data... just a thought..

i wouldn't try that method if i were you. i booted my softmodded box to slayers cd. went to format a new hd (don't remember what option exactly i did). hotswapped the hd's, putting my 80gb in. started slayers proces, took about 20 mins. after it was done, i went in to ftp to it to put the exploits back on. the ftp gave no ip. and as you know there is no way to change the ip without saving and rebooting. so all in all, it didn't work.

i still suggest going and cloning the hd w/ winhex. it's so much easier. clone the hd, format the F and your done.

hehe, i didn't realize i replied so quickly. but anyway, with the slayers cd method you are hotswapping to a virgin box with no exploits on it. so even though slayers installs everything you need for the hd to run, without exploits on your virgin box it will boot to error 21. so after you are finished installing the new hd through slayers, you must ftp to it to install exploits and format the F drive. well after slayers is done rebuilding the hd, when i tried to go in to ftp to it to put exploits back on the ip read as 0.0.0.0. and in evox's settings, there is only the option to exit, not save and exit. so i couldn't change the ip of my box. so i tried rebooting, but only got error 21. even tried booting to the MA gamesave. still didn't work. this method sounds really good...in fact there was a tut on this i read. just sounds too easy. i used this tutorial...the thread were on right now. worked like a charm. the only hard part is unlock/locking the hd. trust me, i'd go with this one.

two more questions  biggrin.gif

1. ok so lets say i used slayers and installed everything and its all formated and locked and junk. could I then hotswap it and put on the neccessary exploits?

2. my friend gave me his xbox to do this on, without a power cable.. if i find a power cable that will fit it, is it safe to plug in?
