Well first off did you put a BIOS on the modcip... Yes I know stupid question!

As far as the blank HD, If you made a backup with WINHEX or HDD_Driver, do the hotswap and restore your backup. If you didn't, well I hope you have a friend with an XBox who will let you do the hotswap on his box and make a backup, then restore this backup to your XBox.

Otherwise the only way is to get a Modchip up and running (or a friend with a chipped box) and the Slayers disc.

Good Luck
Morden.

P.S. I didn't even try to unlock the "extra" 2 gig, I just went out and picked up a new 80 gig WD drive and put it in the X.

Modchips don't come with BIOS's on it, unless it's cromwell, so YES you do need to load up your chip. But it you got another box that boots to the standard MS Dash or the MSDash hasn't been altered, I would just hotswap and image your dead drive with the content of the other one.... Takes a while but works.

Morden.

Edit - Modechip? What the hell is a modechip??? Damn these K-Mart fingers!

No.

What I am saying is that you have two options.....

Option 1:

Take your broken box, which if I am understanding has a modchip with no BIOS on it, and load a BIOS to the modchip. Follow whatever the manufactures instructions to do this are.

Then use the Slayers disk to reinstall your HD with the nec. software.

If this chip requires a woking box to flash, then you're stuck with option 2.

Option 2:

Take your working box, Hotswap the HD to your PC (If the drive is not locked you don't need to hotswap just hook it up), and use HDD_Driver or XLinux to back up the HD.

Then take your broken box, hotswap the drive to your PC (This drive WILL be locked so you must hotswap), and restore the drive with the backup you made.

This option will only work if you have not modified the xboxdash.xbe on the working box. If you have, it may be a good idea to put the original one back before you make the backup.

And just as a general rule of thumb, anything that includes the word "Format" followed by a drive letter that you intend to keep the data from, is best left alone!

Woah, major bummer...

Me last night I accidently ran an emulator on an xbe and it caused a sort of black-hole and fucked up some files on my E: drive...but thats just game saves...

Edit: Hmm, should've kept a backup. Doesn't EvoX stay in memory?

Edit: And in EvoX can you see the F: drive when its unformatted? I might have been a dumbass and not been using it  wink.gif ...

When i try to turn on the xbox with the modchip to flash it,  it still just turns on and off, then frags,  and nothing comes up on the screen.  Would this be a bad mod install or what.

Well the box is going to FRAG (Flash Red And Green)  if you don't have a BIOS on the modchip. If you need to use the X to flash it refer to my earlier post.

Morden.

And RiceCake, which emulator, I've been playing around and just noticed that my DOAXVB saves went poof without warning!

Or leave the DVD drive plugged in and do the IDE cable swap when the little MS logo is on the screen. This is what I do. Look at the tutorials, I think they tell you how to make a backup and restore it.

Morden.

Edit... Ha the board replaces M.I.C.R.O.S.O.F.T. (no .'s) with MS when you save your post... It's SOOOOOO Cute!
