Flashing Tsop On 1.0 With Xchip
« on: October 26, 2005, 04:24:00 AM »

Right now I'm waiting on an xchip coming in the mail.  I was givin a broken 1.0 xbox, and after discovering the motherboard had a bad IDE controller I ordered another 1.0 motherboard.
After reading the manuals for the xchip and this nice post here- http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=324979 I'm going to install the xchip in the 1.0 box just to be able to flash the TSOP in it.
Now finally, my problem.  1.0 xbox TSOP's are 1mb, and when trying to inject the evox1.3 bios for the xchip with my 1mb evox m8plus.bin in the evox setup utility it gives me an error saying the eeprom is the wrong size.  Will the flash still work if I only inject a 256k bios onto the chip, and if not, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Well after finding "some" information on this issue, I believe when you inject an eeprom into your evox1.3 bios for the xchip you are simply doing what your x-control program does.  Since you write your evox1.3 bios to the x-chip with a raw write, I think another possible way to do this (and likely easier for others)  would be to not inject your evox1.3 bios with what you want written to your TSOP, but to just raw write your evox1.3 bios to the x-chip, and then use x-control to write your TSOP bios to an available slot on your x-chip.

This is just what I can figure, as I still haven't got that damn x-chip from easybuy, and it's almost been two weeks.  When I get the x-chip and do all this I will reply with my results.
