Easy Phoenix Install - Goes Gui!
« on: January 17, 2004, 10:11:00 AM »

Just when you thought this project was given up on....

Easy Phoenix Install 2.0 is in development!
user posted image

Version 1.0 was mearly a front end GUI for some scripts but 2.0 features include:

- Internal FTP Client for better file transfering and better error handling!
  - Additional Dashboard(s) [Estimaged to have Evolution-X and MXM at least]
  - Updated Pheonix Bios Loader [Version 1.3.5i]
  - Updated Font Exploit [Font exploit that sets the date on boot to July 4th(Should fix looping problem)
  - Updated Audio Exploit [Mordens Fake Audio Track Database]
  - Easy Phoenix Loader 3.0 Save Game Exploits [Mech Assault and 007 Agent Under Fire]
  - Application Installation [Estimated DVDx and BoXplorer to begin with]

More information as well as a 2.0 demo gui and screen shots can be found at:
http://easyphoenix.servehttp.com

Under the Easy Phoenix Install Link

Unlike the 1.0 release, the 2.0 release wont be pushed out the door so quickly so i wouldnt be expecting it anytime soon.  I realized the 1.0 hung alot (due to the ftp procedures being done by external apps) but 2.0 should fix that problem.

Also any information, recommendations, and help are always welcome and appriciated.

Thanks,
Wooger

Here is wat i wud like to see:

1) Works with 1.4/1.5 xbox
2) Installs exploit, bios, XBMC/XBMP, Boxplorer and EvoX
3) Maybe some sort of update facility where it can download the most recent files from a server, but MUST have the ability to go back to previous versions of files if there is a fault and xbox wont work with the version BIOS (for instance)

Hope this helps.  Any idea for a release date yet?

I hope someones around.

I can't use HDD Driver to access my HD (It's being stupid, whats new?) so I think I'll use Easy Phoenix Install to fix my drive. After you press Install, how do you know its working? Is there a status bar? And what BIOS should i use? Do I need an Rc4 key as I have seen theres a place for one. Thanks, I hope someone can help. I dont really like not being able to fix my Xbox. sad.gif Hot swap not supported? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! sad.gif

ALWAYS Backup your Xbox Drive before manipulating, dont ever
expect any installer to restore a damaged install  wink.gif

Version 1.0 You dont....  Version 2.0 Has progress bars and status updates  laugh.gif

QUOTE
And what BIOS should i use?

Version 1.0: Any Bios that booted default.xbe off c Drive
Versioin 2.0:  Any Bios that boots e:\pbl\p
[modified bios will be available for download as well as complete packed PBL Versions]

QUOTE

Any PBL release requires an RC4 key, please read the PBL information files for information regarding how the PBL works and what information is needed

Hot swap support is coming though it will require the HDD_DRIVER to be used.
Otherwise how do you expect to actually write to a filing system that the os has
no clue how to support?

Wooger

P.S.  Though version 2 doesnt have all the features of version 1 I already have lots of plans to add onto the new programs layout to include the left out features and add even more.

If you all didnt know there has been numerous release's previously of this but without a gui and really more of a manual process than any.... BUT  that is all over now....

This Project is designed to help ease the installation of the XBox exploit methods. In the current upcoming release its planned to have backup/restore (of original xbox drive configuration that the installation will modify), automated installation of the choosen exploit. It does this first by determining your XBox configuration , building the Evox.ini file, Backing up your current unmodified files (that the installation will modify), and copying/creating all needed directories and files best suited for your XBox. It also will copy the 007/MA save game exploit over (if chosen). I have this procedure in just incase you some how mess up your ip configuration and you cant access the XBox over the wire after the installation.  Though this should be there if you follow the recommended installation instruction since you will need the save game exploit installed before using this program.

Im asking for input on any additional features people might like to see?

Yea, cool idea this will surely help noobies. Keep on going!

First I think you should include GUI configuration of boot.cfg (browse for first bios, browse for alt. bios, colorful way to specify led sequence, etc).

And add descriptions to everything as infopopups (explain what audio and font exploit do, explain IGR, Use F, etc.). Remember, n00bs will be using it. In the screenshot, it was also not clear why I was entering the IP, subnet, and gateway -- say that it's to access your xbox once you get Evox running with 007/MA trick. Also, put in the default values for subnet and gateway (255.255.255.0, 192.168.0.1).

Make sure you provide details as to what is happening after you click "Install Now". People want to know what's going on. Like:

-Connecting to Xbox IP
-Backing up HD
-Installing Font Exploit
and so on...

Progress bar of install status would also be nice.

Backup should be optional but checked by default (what if someone already has a backup but wants to reapply xploit?)

Before anything gets installed you MUST check if it's a virgin, untouched xbox -- do some hash checks on all the files that will be tampered with, check the filenames. If it is not in a completely unmodded state refuse to install or something like that.

Make it an option to rename all xbox fonts to XFT, add hex-edited copy of MS dashboard called msdash.xbe on root, and put path to it in evox.

As I agree that hash checks of files to verify which version xbox/dashboard so as to make the install process as trouble free as possible, i would also like an option for people that have modified it already.

I have a mod chip, but because its a Matrix, everytime i put the xbox back together, it loses connection. I would like to take it out, but without reinstalling everything. (like to keep save files and emulators)
