SORRY but i have never tried to use live with this hack or any other xbox so i really cant help you with this one . i just rename the xodash folder so that my msdash dont show the xbox live link in the menu to insure that  no accidents will occur

i renamed it from xodash to xodash.bac and all functions fine without showing any options for live

well, when you click on that tab, xonlinedash.xbe is executed, and it trys to load the xtf files, so all i did was change the all instances of xtf to xft, and everything worked out perfectly.

I have done the xtf to xft conversion, I have signed the xboxdash.xbe and updated my evox.ini.  Yet, everytime I attempt to go to MS Dashboard from Evox, I get a black screen with little green lines behind it, but no MS dashboard.  Can someone please clue me in to what I'm doing wrong.  I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm running an Xbox v1.0 without Live. Signed Phoenix Loader v1.3 with Fonts Hack is installed and working  biggrin.gif

I got no fonts folder, so all my fonts file is allocated on the C partition. I've renamed the original font files from .XTF to .XFT, and the original xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe. I've also edited evox.ini to point to msxboxdash.xbe.

I think the problem is when i hexedit xboxdash.xbe. I get alltogether 5 hits when i search for xtf (I don't remeber on which lines), these I change to xft. Then I sign it with "xbedump xboxdash.xbe -font", rename the out.xbe to xbedash.xbe and put it back into the box.

THEN reboot.

THEN error message 13: kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.

OR error message 21: anywhere - This error says that the machine was booted to display a error, basically someone told the machine to reboot (or launch a xbe) with this flag, and the error code just means its been rebooted by the flag.

What am I doing wrong? Must I have the Live dash installed beforehand?  uhh.gif

DUDE! the tutorial clearly tells you to update to a live dash before hacking at it. go back and read the tutorial a few more times

I have followed the tutorial with a PAL v1.1 xbox (w/o live) and even if i do no hacking, i cannt sign the xboxdash.xbe with -font

Please help smile.gif i want the normal menu to work for dvds innit! smile.gif
you still should update your dash before hacking and signing. i used the mech assault disc to update my dash

make a new text file called sign xbe, now open this text file and add this line of text to it
( xbedump default.xbe -font) without the quotes.and save this file as .bat. now you should have this new .bat file and the xbedump.exe in a folder.

copy any xbe file that you wish to sign into this folder and rename is to default.xbe and double click the .bat file and your xbe file will get signed and saved as out.xbe.

rename the out.xbe file to what ever it was before (xboxdash.xbe) you added it to the xbedump folder and thats all you have to do to sign any of your xbe files.

Okay, thanks! I thought maybe it could work without the Live Dash...

Then I have another question  biggrin.gif

Is it possible to just copy the Live Dash from another updated Xbox to mine?

yes you can replace the contents of your whole c partition with the files from another xbox. copy the updated partition that you will use to the pc and add bigfonts25 to the fonts folder and delete the 2 files that are already in there. add pheonix loader and evox to the main and while everything is still on the pc then you can follow the tutorial to fix you msdash

when all complete just ftp all the files over to the xbox deleting everything that is currently in the c partition before so that only the new files are present

Ok thanks Overloaded for a quick reply  smile.gif

I'll try to do a copy then. But the Xbox I'm going to copy from is a v1.1 Xbox (mine is v.10), does that generate any problems?

no the xbox version wont be effected by the dash version that you are using
