confirmed backups working off hard drive (using bigfonts + phoenix 1.1 bootin x2 4977 bios on k4034/d4920 and a 80gb maxtor drive):
-halo
-project gotham
-crazy taxi 3: high roller
-mechassault
-007:nightfire
-nba2k3
-outlaw volleyball

i have not gotten enter the matrix to work yet. unreal championship works almost, it loads the intro videos but freezes about 80% through the initial load before the menu, i haven't had much chance to mess around with these games yet however.

I'm afraid it wouldn't work that way either.  Only one way to find out, tho...  Try it!  Who knows, I might be the only one of two people having problems with backups of this game and PBL...I'm pretty certain, however, that the problem lies in the PBL, not in x2 4977.  The reason I say this is I can play my hdd backup using a modchip or a flashed TSOP with bios x2 4977 on it.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, cuz I may be, but isn't ETM too large to fit on a single DVD-R unless you cut out some video files?  And the video files are half the fun of the game, so that would be obnoxious to cut them out...

Backing up this game is a bit of a trick, even without the problems experienced with PBL.  The only way I've been able to play it is with my modchip, or my new improved flashable TSOP xbox, flashed with x2 4977 BIOS.  And even that took some doing.  See my post below for what I finally figured out to get this game to work on hdd backup.

Using Phoenix BIOS Loader, nobody knows yet.  Using a modchip or a flashed TSOP with X2 4977 BIOS, you should do the following:

Get the latest Avalaunch dashboard.
FTP to the box with the game in disc drive and ftp contents to your PC.
FTP contents back to your xbox in whatever your games directory is.
Switch back to evox dash, if you so desire.  I desire, cuz I like evox better.
Start game up, should run.

You need to switch to Avalaunch dash in order to ftp the game to your xbox, cuz there are a number of files with really long filenames, and apparently evox just won't put up with it, but Avalaunch will.  Once the files are in place, though, evox doesn't seem to care any more.

Also, I believe this game does have the media check.  But as long as you have one of the newest X2 BIOSes in place on a modchip or on your xbox TSOP, it takes care of the media check for you without you having to patch.

First, I tried all these games from the HARDDRIVE! Copied at the E: drive.

I'm using the 22 July Bigfonts with the phoenix 1.1 loader at a 4034 xbox.

I can confirm that DOAX Volleyball does NOT work! It hangs as soon as you start it from evox.

Also I found out that these games are working:

Splinter Cell
Big Mutha Truckers
Rollercoaster Tycoon
The Italian Job
Midtown Madness 3
The Sims
Unreal Tournament
Outlaw Volleyball

I will edit this post as soon as I test more games...

interesting...I haven't had any problems playing DOA xxxtreme beach volleyball using PBL...I have the nude hack variety, and I demonstrated it to a group of people the other day running it from hdd, same day I wanted to show them Enter the Matrix but couldn't cuz I extracted my modchip.

seems some games work for some people but not others...weird...
