So does this mean that the system won't reset on eject, the DVD remote is functional, and one is able to access the original MS dash?

Yes to all excpet for the access to the MS Dash.  You need to edit a file with a HEX Editor.  A guide for this can be found in the DASHBOARD EXPLOIT thread BUT I will be adding in to THIS tutorial in the near future AS WELL as a bunch of other updates, so check back in the next couple of days.

just one thing the red light keeps flashing is there any way to fix that?

To correct this, download and apply the latest 'bigfonts' ernie and bert files.

Perhaps since most noobs DO NOT have access to a modded XBOX, you coul;d add option 3:

Check back in the next day or two.  I havnt tried it yet for myslef so tht is why it hasnt been added.  I am likely going to try it tonight or tomorrow and then add it to the tutorial AS WELL as a bunch of other updates.  This tuorial is a WIP smile.gif

---RECQUIRED HARDWARE---

- X-Box (not modified, ie straight from the box)
- Cross-Over Network Cable

OPTION 1:
- Modified X-Box (with a modchip)
- X-Box Memory Unit (memory card)

OPTION 2:
- Action Replay
OR
- Converted Memory Card (see link in USEFUL LINKS section)

If you have an Xbox that has been modified with a software hack, would there be any problems with just FTPing the files over? Why would you need an Xbox with a modchip?

At the moment the only way would be to remove the files (or move them) however I am currently working on adding the ability for a switchboard to allow for LIVE play.  Check back soon.

You are recquired to edit the MS Das file.  A guide for this IS availible but I WILL be adding it VERY soon.

To the best of my knowledge this exploint works on all currently availible versions/models.

The reason you need access to an X-Box with a chip (or A software MOD) is so you have the ability to FTP to it.  If you can FTP to your machine you do not have to worry about any of those steps.

I have the july 20th big fonts file. So is it ok to unplug the xbox or should I not?

Yes the bigfonts ernie and bert fixes the Clock problem (reboot loop).  It does however present another problem that I hope will be addressed soon, which is when booting the X-Box you may be displayed a blank screen instead of having it load Evox.  If this occurs powering off and on (usually one or 2 times) will make it boot normally.  I minor problem that can sometimes get a little annoying.  No doubt they are awear of the problem and likely trying to fix it.

QUOTE (grillchef @ Jul 22 2003, 02:14 AM)
hi all

sorry but i cant get this tutorial to work at all. i followed and understood almost all steps but its still not working.

first question: on my xbox c drive i have a fonts dir with the XBox.xtf and the Xbox Book.xtf files BUT the same files are in the root directory. so i follow the steps "---PART 4: INSTALLING THE PHOENIX LOADER, OPTION 1 (with fonts folder)---" right?

then the points:

10. TRANSFER all the files in the C folder (extracted from the signed phoenix bios loader.rar) to the X-Box C drive.

- what c folder? i dont have a c folder in my Complete_Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader.rar file.

11. COPY all the files from the "C" folder of the zip to the C Drive of the XBox.

- again what c folder? and what zip?? didnt point 10. just say to transfer all the files to 10??

sorry maybe its just to late and i should go to bed but i really would like to get this working. also in some other threads i read about xbedump.exe is that not needed in this tutorial?

briefly what i did was:

i did the 007 expoit, renamed the XBox.xtf and the Xbox Book.xtf files in my fonts dir, copied the ernie and bert files there and transfered the extracted Complete_Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader.rar to my xbox c drive. but what about evox?

sorry again if any of this sounds plain stupid but i dont seem to be able to figure it out alone

thanks for your help

I am having much the same problem. the copy and transfer instructions seem redundant especially since there seems to be no copy function in flash ftp. I just transfered all the files and followed all other instructions but then I get the "xbox needs servicing message"

alcoholfuelled, I know you put a lot of work into this and I really appreciate it.  my feeble mind is just not making the connection.
