Tutorial: How To Install Phoenix Loader
« on: March 16, 2004, 03:37:00 PM »

Okay i have followed your tut exactly (using HD swap method and with fonts folder), got the EXACT same files and have tried many things but cant get this to work.  In my sys folder i have: (using HDD Driver)

[-] System
  • Audio
    [-] Fonts
    -----Xbox Book.xft
    -----Xbox.xft
    -----bert.xtf
    -----ernie.xtf

    XBox Book.xft
    Xbox.xft
  • xboxdashdata.17F14D00
  • xodash

    boot.cfg
    default.xbe
    evox.ini
    evoxdash.xbe
    phoenix.raw
    xboxrom.bin
    xboxdash.xbe

    [-] User Save
  • TDATA
  • UDATA
  • CACHE

    xboxdash.xbe

The E drive xboxdash is hex edited and "signed" with xbe dump.  The c drive one is not.  When i start the xbox, i get error 13 (according to another tut on this site this means: "13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed."

Again i followed the tut to the smallest detail (using HD Swap method and with fonts folder).  I have tried the hex editing xboxdash for the diff types of xtf and nothing works.  I have tried this for atleast a total of 20 + hours (night after night of staying up till 4:30 in the morning and waking up at 7:30 and its not pleasant)  I am at my wit's end.  Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

EDIT: PS this thread should be PINNED.

Everything looks right. The only problems I can come up with is either you edited your origianl Xbox dash OR you don't have a correct Kernal and Dash version. What versions do you have?

Yes, it should be pinned. This is the greatest Phoenix Tutorial I have ever seen. Though, Allcoholfulled has disapeared. I haven't talked with him since last August. sad.gif   Anyone know where he is?

how do u find kernel and dash versions

Go into 'System' and then select 'System Info'. Let the screen scroll and at the bottom it'll give you...

QUOTE
K:1.00.xxxx.01 (xxxx will be your Kernal number)
D:1.00.xxxx.01 (xxxx will be your Dash number)

If you give me these, I can help you more.

This can be a little tricky.
1. Download SlaYers from IRC.
         Server: snoop.burghcom.com
         Channel: #SlaYerS

2. Back up your Xbox HD
3. Extract the SlaYers disk you just downloaded
4. There should be a "C Backup" folder. Add all that to your C drive of your Xbox.

All done.

You also need to use PBL 1.3.5i because I believe your Box uses the new focus chip. You can find that in the usualy places.

you're still going to need font files, put them in c:/fonts, and extract the PBL into root C:/, when you get slayers.

the point of slayers is that you need to downgrade your dash. You can use the files on the slayer's disk to do that. Just replace the xodash folder, xboxdata folder and xboxdash.xbe  with the ones on the slayers disk and you should be fine and the fonts will work.

I didn't say to burn it, but thats cool that you did. You need to extract it (using something that extracts XISO's.) and then you need to take C backup and move all of it to your XBox's System drive.

Whats with the PDF files? You can get the propper software for extracting XISOs in the 'usual places'.

It's called auto installer cuz normally when you allready have a modded xbox you can just burn the iso on a cd and put it in your xbox and it can do all sorts of things like format partitions or install all kinds of apps. But since your xbox isn't modded yet it will not read the damn thing. You just need some files that are on it and to get those files you need to extract the iso.

Search for dashboard files. I thought they were in the system directory somewhere. You actually just need the xodash folder, the xboxdashdata folder and the xboxdash.xbe.
