The Simple Bert and Ernie Bios Loader Tutorial!*Note*Of course, if you already have a hacked Xbox, there is no need for the hotswap. Just follow the instructions in
Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3.rar to copy the files over to your Xbox. (The file is hosted @ #xbins on efnet)
Requirements:
Any model xbox (1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3)
A spare computer
A screwdriver
1) The first thing you need to do is perform a hard drive hot swap, as documented at
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act...ST&f=45&t=73720When you get past step 10,
STOP!1a) If you get infinite filesize errors, please follow these simple instructions to combat them:
a. Using T00GGs HDD driver make two backups of the HDD name one something like FATX FIX and the other FATX Restore or whatever but dont get them confused.
b. Now open the FATX FIX backup with winhex and find references to FATX and replace them with "...." (They are located @ offsets: 0x00080000 Game Cache A/0x2ee80000 Game Cache B/0x5dc80000 Game Cache C/0x8ca80000 System/0xabe80000 Data).
c. Now go to the restore function within the HDD driver app and from the FATX FIX backup restore cache 3 and user.
d. open the app again and you should be able to see the system DIR (no invalid size crap)
e. install your exploits as other tutorials tell you (one little note you cant make a DIR with this app but you can change existing ones so change AUDIO to Skin and whatever sub DIR to PheoniX, this should work, as all that seems to be in here is MS dashboard sounds)
f. then using the FATX Restore backup, restore cache 3 and user and you should be fine
If you guys are still having problems try restoring the entire drive with the FATX FIX backup then restore the FATX Restore backup, partition by partition till you find what works and what partitions are causing the errors, just remember to use the FATX Restore to copy over any partition that has been FATX FIX1b) If windows takes a long time to load, and HDD_Driver cant find the Hard Drive, use the pause/break method as documented in the walkthrough I linked to. Your final choice would be x-linux, and I cant help you there. You can find walkthroughs in the Xbox-scene forums.
2) Obtain a complete copy of
Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3.rar Edit the options in the evox.ini to your chosen Xbox IP and change whatever specifics you want. Get the file from Xbins.
3) Using HDD_Driver, copy over the entire contents of the Phoenix Bios Loader rar file into your system directory. (Make sure you have Bert and Ernie reloaded in the font file, and the old font files renamed)
4) Shut down
4a) If you were using the invalid file size workaround, please restore the 2 partitions now!
5) Reconnect everything in your Xbox, and power on. You should see a phoenix loading screen, and your system should boot into Evox! Congrats! You now have complete access to your Xbox, and you may do whatever you like!
