Help With Hot Swap!

i'm trying to do the hot swap with the xlinux tutorial but when it says to remove all devices from the second ide cable, do i have to remove the CD ROM? i only have two ide cables, one for the computer hard drive and one for the CD ROM. so if i boot xlinux then take off the CD ROM and put the xbox HD on it, will it work and i can transfer the files? Help anyone?! k: 4034 d: 4920

But in order for xlinux to boot off the CD ROM, the CD ROM ide cable has to be in use.

but what about the computer hard drive? how do i copy the files from the computer hard drive to the xbox hard drive if only one can be connected at a time?
