If a lot of the posts that follow this one sound repetitive and redundant, thats because I rewrote this first post to better utilize the corrections that have been made.
I hope this helps out.
This guide goes out for everyone not using 4034
if you are using 4034
you can already authenticate the drive.
Frist thing is, make sure you do this willing to take full responsibility on what
blah blah blah blah
you should know this by now.
And Backup everything
OK
1. Find a way into the box
I used the 007 auf save trick. (you should already know how to boot into the xbox and FTP to if if you want to try this. If you dont read the pinned topics)
2. Only use Bert and Ernie Reloaded font files
place these files inside the fonts folder on your C drive. (DO NOT RENAME THESE FILES)
3. Rename the existing Xbox.xtf and Xbox Book.xtf files inside your fonts folder to Xbox.xft and Xbox Book.xft. (Basically you changed the extension from .xtf to .xft.
4. Install FreeXEvox (Evox that runs on the font exploit) on your C drive. We want Evox to be your primary booting dash. So place the default.xbe Evox file in the root of the C drive. (Please read the pinned topics on how to install Evox in this forum)
5. Follow krakens tutorial in order to be able to boot the M$ Dash from within Evox. (This is very important because this is how you will be able to set your time back.. without this you may not be able to boot originals or just cause your xbox to reboot repeatedly.)
6. Install Complex V1.1 as an App from within Evox. Place the default.xbe file from Complex in the E drive (i.e. E:apps:complex:default.xbe) and place the !Loader file that comes with Complex in the Root of C drive. (i.e. c:!Loader) (Make sure you sign default.xbe for complex with xbedump font) There should also be a folder inside !Loader called Patches
for 4817 use the new CPX-MOD3.DLL plug-in for complex
everyone else just stick with the EVOX-4034.DLL file that came with complex originally. (CPX-MOD3.DLL was suppose to work with 3944 but it never did) Also make sure you can FTP into the xbox using complex as well.
(Small Recap right now
so far
your xbox should boot into Evox
from there we need to make sure you can correctly launch both Complex v1.1 and the M$ Dash. If so
continue
if not
please fix this)
After we have verified that
it can boot into evox, run complex v1.1 and M$ Dash
we can move on
7. A few people have reported that after trying this and Evox loads once then Complex freezes (it may do this once or twice
) they say that the time comes back and originals start booting again
so before we proceed, when trying this method we want to make sure that the xbox does not have access to the internet
so what I did is I restricted internet access to the xbox by blocking its IP address on my router
or the other way would be to have a crossover cable from xbox to PC without internet. After a few attemps the xbox may get the time back. Also in the ini file for Evox, make sure you put No on the Switch to M$ Dash option.
8. Ok, now you should be ready to lose time
(this is by far the hardest part of this method
THE WAIT) I Believe it takes 5+ hours to lose time
so patience is required for this.
9. Once the time has been lost
( the only way to check to see if it has is to insert an original game, turn it off and back on
see if it boots the game. If it does, you have not lost time
if it doesnt and goes into Evox
then you are almost done
**NOTE The xbox may reboot 1 or 2 times before it goes into Evox
this is normal
just let it cycle and it will kick into Evox Eventually, As long as it doesnt boot the game you can authenticate the DVD drive)
10. Once the xbox has booted into Evox with an original game inside the DVD drive
launch Complex (again complex may freeze the first couple times, just turn it off and back on and go back into Evox and then Complex) FTP into the xbox
once it is connected
press the Yellow button on the controller
complex should say Media Authenticated. Go over to the D drive on the xbox and the contents of the DVD drive should now be displayed.
11. To backup another game
just insert another original game and reboot the xbox
follow the same steps to access the Drive.
12. If you are finished backing up your games
and want to play originals
remove the game inside the drive
reboot the xbox
go into Evox
then launch M$ Dash
and set your time by going to Settings and Clock and set the time. Press A to select the current time then backout to the main menu of the Dash
then just reboot the system with an original game inside the drive and it should launch.
Thats it
thats all I can think of at the moment
if I need to revise this I will.
I hope I have cleared up a few things for everyone and I hope most of you can try it and let me know. Also post your kernel version.
