well, I didn't have any game to play on Live, but I was able to update my dashboard via the Live menu. Configure your internet connection then choose the option to update it.

You have to old of a dash for that if you have a 1.1. go rent a live game then plug you xbox into the network and unplug the outgoing cable on you router /modem. that way the xbox will think you have a internet conection. then with the l;ive game prefably mechasssault pretend like you want to get on live. It will auto update.

yeah, got the same problem. But mine didn't make any sound. Maybe when i was in xLinux, I turned it off and the HD is still unlocked. How do I lock it again?
