Check to make sure you replaced all of the font files.  On my xbox the font files were located both in the root, and in the /fonts directory.  I only replaced the ones in /fonts, and nothing happened.  So I hopped back in, and sure enough, there was a duplicate set in the root, so I replaced those, and it worked.  Well, sorta.  I have other problems, but hopefully that should solve yours.

I do have extra files in the root, but what are these extra problems you speak of?

if you have the 4920 dashboard (Live enabled games install this version)

you can disregard the fonts in c: and keep the ones in c:fonts (i just made a "backup" folder in fonts and moved my original fonts into this and actually deleted the fonts in c:)

it appears that when you update with live enabled games it creates the font directory, puts new fonts in the fonts dir but forgets to remove the original c:  xtf files.

I know for sure that a xbox ver 1.1 with 4920 dashboard and 4817 kernel does NOT need to fonts in the root of c: as mine have been deleted for sometime now with 0 problems.

You should NOT remove the fonts from C: They are needed by some
games.

I backed up the hd just like the directions said, but this hard drive...I could smash it with a hammer and it would still be fine.
