When I completely disconnected the power overnight (ie pulled the plug out of the wall and waited for the electronic units within the xbox to loose any residual power) I could no longer boot into Evox dash and the xobox was endlessly looping the bootup.  

The only way I found to be able to reboot was to either restore the original hdd image using hdd driver hotswap method or plug in a network cable that was plugged into my powered 100mbit switch(immediately fixed the issue).  On some occasions I could only fix this issue when I also had a pc also plugged into the switch.

I don't know what will happen if I now remove the network cable and reset the xbox.  From the comments above it should reboot ok...

I have some questions?
What initiates the setting of the clock or resetting of the clock at/after boot?
Does it come from the xbox internal bios?
Does it come from or "try" to come from the original dash?
Does it come from or "try" to come from the evox dash?
Would successfully switching to the original dash before power down fix this? (maybe the original dash writes to an area of the xbox bios when it saves the settings file? dunno)


Kraken, is your dash the EVOX 1.8.3752, or is it something different? or are you referring to B&E Reloaded?

XboxWatch may indeed fix the issue because it resets the time to a sensible time... ie now.

If it's the evox dash that sets/looks for the time at boot surely a new dash is in order so this issue can be fixed.  Obviously I realise the evox dash is for a chipped box and as of this writing I am unaware of a dash specifically for non chipped xboxes.  So maybe I've answered my above question about the origin of time setting/looking.

I think this should work (but can't confirm since I've never had the clock problem).

Try to get a copy of Evox or Slayer's Install disc.  I believe both (I know Slayer's is) are bootable with a modchip in.  With your Matrix in the machine, hopefully it will look to the Dvd drive before it looks to the hard drive.

That should allow you to boot and get into the xbox.

I know you can't boot mech assault, but hopefully the other discs work.  I know I've installed a completely blank hard drive to a chipped box in order to use the install disc on it, so I can't imagine the xbox needing to look for msdash or anything on the hard drive to boot with these discs.

If you are able to get in, I would recommend installing Evox or some other dashboard, if only for the chip to work in the future.  Most chip BIOSes look to boot evoxdash before msdash, and since your's didn't I can only assume you didn't have it installed.
