Complex Loader And The New Kernel Patch
« on: July 13, 2003, 03:17:00 PM »

Ok... Got Loader working.... Sort of....

Anyone know what I did wrong?

My Xbox specs:

Ver: 1.1
Dash: 4920 (Live Dash)
Kernel: 4817

Here is what I did:

1. Accessed the Xbox HD using XLinux.
2. Renamed the old font files to *.xft
3. Copied all files from Loader1.0FX to the proper directories.
4. Deleted the old plugin DLL, and put the new one in it's place.
5. Copied and renamed the xtf files from reloaded.

When I reboot the Xbox with nothing in the drive I end up with the Complex screen. It gets to the point of "Starting File Server" then doesn't seem to do anything else. The power LED is flashing Red.... As it should.

I can ping the XBox, but not FTP into it.

I can boot an original game at startup.

What did I do wrong?

Ok... More info here:

If I unplug the network cable, complex gets all the way up.

But, even though I have Boxplorer in my E:apps directory, it is named default.xbe, and i have a link to the e:/apps directory in complex.cfg when I open up the menu it's not listed.

I can't seem to run anything...

Anyone know why apps are not showing up in the list, and why I can't boot with the net cable plugged in?

I did delete the old plugin and put the new one in it's place. Still no dice.

I found out what was wrong:
Make sure you do not rename the CPX-MOD3.DLL file. Leave the file name intact and delete the old file. Then the network should boot fine (it does for me now).

See thats just it! I didn't rename that file. I deleted the old one and just put the new one in the directory without changing the name!

Weird!

I now see that others are having the same issue... Or seem to be anyway.

Anyone got any useful info on this?
