Your not supposed to rename Bert and Ernie, just drag and drop into the fonts folder. THEN rename the "stock" fonts that were in there originally, with the ending ".xtfreg" so the MS dashboard doesnt load them.

I think you put the Linux default.xbe on C:. Where did you get that file from? You need either Complex !loader or Free Xevox on C:.

i got my default.xbe from the Free-XEvox on xbins...but every time I restart it, it goes to MS dashboard, not the Evox

Then you messed something up with the fonts, like I said just drag and drop bert and ernie into fonts folder, no renaming, then rename the end of the xbox .xtf's to .xtfreg

What does it say your IP is? How do you have it connected to your computer? What program are you using to connect to it with?
