Hey, just had this problem yesterday and fixed it...

Does the reboot occur due to the time error? (Green ring appears near right hand side of the screen zooms in, then reboots)

If so, then boot up your XBox, and as SOON as that ring zooms in and disappears (before the flickering screen), unplug your hd.  Make sure your computer is on, and plug in your hd to your already turned on pc.  Then you should be able to access it.

Actually...... I found that Hotswapping is available..... just swap once the led starts flashing after it first tries to boot..... it should be unlocked..... atleast it worked for me......
