First Time X-chip Install
« on: December 05, 2004, 03:26:00 AM »

Hi all,

Im a newbi to the site and am looking for help on my xbox mods.
Im getting in the next couple of days an x-chip and am looking to do the install myself. I have a 1.1 version xbox and have bought a x-chip combo with solderless adapter. i also bought a new 120Gig HDD to install at the same time a few questions i must ask before i go ahead and do all this.

Firstly does a bios come with the x-chip already pre installed?

Secondly can i install the chip and HDD at the same time or do i need to install the chip first add the bios and then go back and install the HDD?

Plz help cheerz.

The X-Chip is shipped with the Cromwell bios.  You will need to reflash it with a bios that can run unsigned  code.  (I recommend evox_x-chip 1.3)   Next you install both the x-chip and the 120 gig hard drive.

Now you have to find cd's your xbox can read and burn slayers evox installer onto it.

Startup your xbox (if your using evox_x-chip 1.3 you must press start to enter the setup and enable the F partition or you can edit on your computer with their new tool)  place the slayers cd in the tray.

turn in off then on again with the disc in the drive.

let slayers do the rest!

If you need any help with this pm me.

Yep, although you may have problems using some cd-r's so i'd suggest putting a copy of slayers on a dvd and letting it do its job, as 82_Z28 said, just choose to install evo-x and apps on retail or large hd.

now I'm just guessing but I don't think M$ wanted to make it "easy" to do this and to answer your question, heres what I would research:
X-chip_Evox V1.3
EvolutionX Dashboard
Dvd2xbox
basic xbox pc ftp
dvd burning techniques

Your probably right about putting the money towards your car if you are not able to find the bios or a copy of slayers with the wealth of information that is given you on here.
You need to download a client called MIRC and install it, you can find a copy of MIRC at www.mirc.com
you need to join a server using MIRC the server network is called Efnet .
you then need to join a channel on that server called #xbins
You will also need to get a FTP client , there are plenty of trial FTP clients on the net like cute FTP
you will get instructions about how to join a the ftp server from #xbins when you are in the channel type /msg xbins !list
follow those instructions using your FTP client
once you are in you need to browse to xbox / bios / xchip and download evox_xchipv1.3.rar.
while you are on the server you should get the torrent file for slayers too its in xbox/ dashboards / evox
once you have to bios you will need to unzip it , to do so you may need a program like winrar which you can get here http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
the bios is in the file you unzip along with instruction manual in .pdf format
As for slayers once you have the torrent you will need a bit torrent client , Bit Tornado has a free client you can use here http://www.bittornado.com/download.html
Well i hope this helps, if you cant manage it from here , you really should go sell ya chip and put it toward your car.

you will need to install a ftp server on your xbox, the easiest way to do that is to install a dashboard like slayers evox autoinstaller as it has heaps of apps included which im sure you will find useful.
Once you have downloaded and made the slayers installer cd or dvd you will be able to pop that disk in which will load a ftp server on boot, it will give you a IP address in the window thats 1st loaded for the installation, "You will have needed to setup your computer for internet sharing or a small office network and have a crossover cable connected between your computers ethernet card and the xbox ethernet connection" If you are using a multi port router with your computer you can just connect the xbox with a straight thru cable to the router and it should assign you a IP.
Either way you will need to install a ftp server of some sort on your xbox.
If you choose not to install Slayers evox apps or dashboard the cd / dvd you create will still allow you to ftp anything you need to your xbox from your puter and vice versa.
