Hey I recently tried this tutorial because it seemed easy enough but heres the problem

everytime i turn on the xbox the screen goes black and the led's start to flicker red, amber, green, over and over again

the only thing i can think of is when i hotswapped i still had a game in the drive but i didnt really think that would make any difference

and my biggest problem is the fact that the HDD Driver program would never work so i didnt back up my hardrive.

i can still play regular games if i put them in right away but i cant however access the hardrive at all now and when i go to save a game we crash so maybe im just really stupid or something ha probably but if anyone can help that would be awesome thanks

okay, best thing now is to put the font back to normal... did you rename the bert/ernie font to xbox.xtf and xbox book.xtf?

right now, all you got to do is change the bert and ernie extension to something like .fff and change the xbox.old and xbox book.old extension back to ".xtf" using the xlinux command...

now boot up your xbox and see if it boot to the normal ms dashboard

after that, do the hotswap again and boot into windows, then open the HDD-driver program, when it said it have found your xbox hard-drive, press okay, next go to tools and backup HD, pick a location to save it... it would take around 1 hours to 3 hours biggrin.gif anyways, ignore the invalid size error box, just don't click on it biggrin.gifs...

now, can you give me your whole xbox system spec...

like what version is it? is it a bundle? and what dashboard version is it?

oic, so you got the 4920 dashboard then, anyways, so your problem is your xbox keep on resetting over and over again instead of booting to evox dashboard?

yes that would be the problem
oh and now when i go into it through xlinux it says everything is read only when i like want to delete or rename files

because right now i have my friends xbox and i just saved all his files from his xbox onto my cdrive
and i want to just delete my files then copy the files from the cdrive and put them on my xbox

that should work shouldnt it

but because of the read only crap it wont let me delete anything now

hmm... read only? is it possible that your xbox hard-drive is still locked? try to do the hotswap one more time and see how it goes...

man, that is very bad since you don't have a backup of your hard-drive, becuase you can't restore it!!!

don't worry, if you can still boot up original games, then there is always the 007 savegame method waiting for you so you can use it to gain ftp access to your xbox hard-drive, then you can edit whatever you want in gnu windows style biggrin.gifs...
