wow, this worked great, everything seems to be working fine, but is the light on my eject button supposed to flash from green-amber-red repeatedly?

Has any body heard if this will work on an older Xbox
V1.0 - Kernel 3944 - original Dash
I can't upgrade since the DVD ROM is on the fritz.
I want to install Evox so I can add a  2nd DVD or just replace it

Would be easier to help if you give some information about the error.

it is al long error but it is something about a drive or folder that doesn't exist.
could it be that i must connect my xbox hdd to my primary ide? and could i disconnect my pc primary drive than?

btw. i know it's unlocked because hdd driver can detect it (but i can't work with files there, the program closes then)

here is the error i was talking about (i have seen that there are more posts about this error)

mount: special device /dev/hdc51 does not exist!

i used xlinux and i got the same error myself... is there any feedback we can get about it? i got my xlinux from #xbins on efnet.  i dont know, it came with an iso and i just burned that and its booting up from it. but i dont know why i keep getting that error because i'm 100 percent sure my drive is unlocked.  I have my c: as primary master, my cdrom as primary slave and my Xbox HD as secondary master.  i'm thinking maybe the problem lies in there? but i want to have some feedback about it first.  THanx

i have loaded a game (any game) and i just Selected the file on the hdd.
than you must do the hdd swap and than you can mount it.
than just follow the tutorial.

(All comments below based on Khirok's original post..)

Isn't there an easier way to do this?  The current process is to do the HD Swap trick, boot to xbox-linux from your PC, and then copy bert/ernie files from the Windows partition to the XBOX HD connected to your PC...

Instead of doing all of that, couldn't you just boot xbox-linux from a CD on the XBOX and then SSH to the XBOX and copy these files?

Or can you not access the necessary partition on the XBOX HD when booting from an xlinux cd?  I'm thinking about trying this with dist-0.3.1.

I apologize if this is a stupid question.  I'm new to all of this and I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way to get evox running on my xbox without using a mod chip.

Thanks
