Barriers To Full Functionality
« on: July 08, 2003, 07:10:00 PM »

Step by step, in the less than 1 week that this exploit has been out, it is edging closer to full functionality, almost that of a mod chip.

Here are, as I see it, the barriers to this exploit, some already solved.

1) Original MSDASH access-- Now implemented.  See Kraken's pinned post.  Simply change XTF files to another file extension, and cue the MSDASH to read that extension via HEX Editor.  Great Job!

2) CLOCK reset problem:  Still unconfirmed whether or not this is a real problem.  Some speculation that the above (solution to 1) may solve this.  More to come.

3) IGR/Exit App crash-- you knos, the green writing telling you your system needs service.  Still happens with each atempt at IGR with EVOX, and when exiting any app.  Yet, we know that a reboot will work, as EVOX is able to do it.  A solution to this would be reverting to an older evox that has a TRUE reset to bios, or else implementing that into the current EVOX packaged with the font hack.  More to come on this as well.

4) DVD access-- Probably the largest problem now.  Currently, there is no way to access files from the DVD drive to backup games.  While some report that Xcommander is able to see the files with the Bert and Snuffleufagus fonts, the majority of us are NOT having success with this.  Needs to be the focus of attention at this time.

5) DVD movies-- They play fine if you start with the movie in the tray, but the remote no longer has its functionality.  Any button pressed leads to a reset of the system.  Probably the second biggest problem at this time.  DVD 2.0 will work fine, but does not support DVD remote.

Congrats to Kraken for breaking number one.  Hopefully 4 and 5 will be solved soon, since they significantly limit the functionality of the XBOX.

Here are two things that need to be done before all of that:

1)Compatibility
2)Clock Error

Then they can work on small joes.

As far as compatablility goes, LOADER is the problem...  patching with XBEDUMP will work with all versions, and is preferred in my opinion.

As for CLOCK, should be solved with an active link to XBOX DASH.

Thats curious because the DVD access and copy method is still the same. I only use the XBMP remount function which should make no difference.  uhh.gif

QUOTE (luther349 @ Jul 9 2003, 05:22 AM)
set evox ini not to jump to the m$ dash if the clock isnt set aruldy posted that fixes time clock error.

JumpToMsDash   = No
JumpIfNoLink   = No

using the dash trick to restor your orignal dash allows yoto use the stock dvd player again. and also fixes the time error.

the time bug only effects complex loader if you have it for your dash if you have it as a app on evox that also fixes the loader.

try something new and read up befor you make useless post. and this is the last time im explaing this so to all you newbs any further post will siply be ignored regarding these.

Luther,

Using the stock DVD was never a problem, remember?  All along, you could START the XBOX with the DVD in, and it would play.

The problem with DVD playback currently is that the DVD remote will not work.

And i think, how to get EVOX work with the audio exploit (that is much better to apply), it leads into an error 21, if it can load linux why not evox.

just my 2 cents

xbcopy won't read it on my xbox.   sad.gif   Nothing will, so far.  The DVD access problem seems to be hit-or-miss --- most people can't use it, but others have no problems at all.  Hopefully someone will figure it out soon.  I haven't had much luck.
