How To Boot Original Dash Through Freevox

Is anyone able to use the original xbox dash w/the xbox dvd remote control in progressive scan using the fonts exploit?

I am not even able to use the original xbox dash to play dvds w/the xbox dvd remote control while using the Bert and Ernie Reloaded fonts hack.

Here is my setup:
Dash: 4920
Bert & Ernie Reloaded - original fonts renamed to .xft

original xbox dash in c:\xboxdash.xbe
evox in c:\default.xbe
Hex-modded progressive scan, hex-modded xtf to xft fonts, & signed xbox dash in c:\newxboxdash.xbe

evox.ini (parsing only the information related to dvd):
MSDashBoard = "c:\newxboxdash.xbe"
AutoLaunchDVD = Yes
DVDPlayer = "c:\newxboxdash.xbe"

With this setup I place a DVD in the drive and turn on the xbox, it boots the DVD, displaying the FBI information and etc. However, if I am ever able lucky enough to reach the main menu without it rebooting, any button I press on the remote will reboot the xbox.

Booting completly into evo-x then inserting a DVD returns an error 21.

Booting into evo-x, then launching c:\xboxdash.xbe, then inserting a DVD returns error 21

Booting into evo-x, then launching c:\newxboxdash.xbe, then inserting a DVD returns the error "you must connect an xbox dvd playback kit to play DVDs" even though I have the dongle connected.

Any suggestions?

I got the hack working too on a dash 4920.

The only setback was as someone else had mention was the live setting.

The video would load and after that it would just blank.

Anyone else experiencing this too?

Thanks for the nice work everyone.

if your xbox hasent lost time you should be able to boot a game 007 auf or mechassalt if you still have the hacked save in. then replace your fucked up xboxdash.xbe with a backup orignal.

as for the fonts thers no fix for a clock loop untill it decides to stop looping use the audio expolite insted.

Now then, really wanting to get my msdash back....here's a checklist what i have done so far. This is on a crystal 1.6v Xbox using 4920 xbe!!

Installed Ude2 with Evox as Main dash (all fine)

1. Edited the old msdash xbe file in hex and changed all the Xtf -> xft
2. Saved msxboxdash.xbe and signed using xbedump.
3. Changed system fonts on c: to match Xft (not ernie & bert)
4. Edited evox.ini and setup to direct to msxboxdash.xbe.
5. Copied msxboxdash.xbe to c:\   (where evox is looking for it)

Still getting no joy...Can anyone please help urgently!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm using a 3935 with a 5101 kernal. I followed all the instructions correctly, but when I try to go to the ms dashboard it gives me a screen that says: Update complete. Starting updated title. Has anyone else ran into this and what should I try to do to fix it?

Don't use this tutorial. It is old. Search for Ldots font patcher that will do this for you.  smile.gif

Im running a 5838 version xbox (V 1.6 i think) and Ive tried searching through the xboxdash.xbe for all instances of 78 00 74 00 66 several times. I come up with about 7 entries, and when i replace them all and sign it, the xbedump tells me that the header size is invalid. It runs to completion then says FALSE!!!!! FALSE!!!!!!!! at the end. Is this normal? I ask this because when i transfer it all back and reset my xbox, the system crashes with an error 13 when i try to switch to the msdash. Any hints? Id love to have my memory card manager back!   blink.gif
