ya, just ignore the 0x like xboxwannabe said and search for the rest of the numbers.  You're then supposed to change the five instances of FATX (which is on the same line as the value you searched for) and and the to ... (four periods).  When that's done, you upload the new hacked xbox backup to your xbox and if you try to use HDD Driver, no file errors but also no HDD partitions (think folders).  Then you're supposed to upload the system part of the original backup and not only should the file rrors be gone, you should be able to edit your xbox files.  This doesn't seem to work for me, as the errors come back even after loading the system only part of the backup.

P.S. (This may be out of place but this will probobly be my last post in the topic)
I've come to the conclusion that this is more work then you need to do to mod your XBox.  I'm just going to same 60 bucks and buy an Xecuter Pro chip with pogo pins (I'm ok at soldering, just dont want to take any chances) and install that.  Think about the benefits of using a hard mod.  No clock loops, you can always turn it off and have your regular xbox dash back so you can play live, and your chances of permanently screwing up your box are slim and none.

blink.gif Oh Yeah!! I forgot to say.
It doesn't use the C: either so Xbox live shouldn't be a problem (well I don't know that for sure).
Worth a look even if you are gonna get a hardmod, I nearly did til I got this. wink.gif

Invalid File Crap Error Fix For T00gg Hdd Driver

This is still a problem for me...

Even though I just bought an Xecuter 2.3b pro and my XBox is modded, I'm still having trouble using HHD Driver, as I still get an infinite amount of errors.  I heard somewhere on the forums that this can be resolved by changing only some of the instances of FATX to ... and leaving the others alone.  Has anybody heard of this?  I can't seem to figure out a pattern or which ones should be changed.  Also, has anybody found another fix for this program?

QUOTE (kanga202 @ Jul 8 2003, 06:08 AM)
1.   Using T00GGs HDD driver make two backups of the HDD name one something like FATX FIX and the other FATX Restore or whatever but don’t get them confused.
2.   Now open the FATX FIX backup with winhex and find references to FATX and replace them with ….. (one per letter) make sure to change only the ones that are at the start of the partitions i.e. if its followed by a bunch of dots (…….) or (more likely) y (yyyyyy) there should be 4 or 5.
3.    Now go to the restore function within the HDD driver app and from the FATX FIX backup restore cache 3 and user.
4.   open the app again and you should be able to see the system DIR (no invalid size crap)
5.   install your exploits as other tutorials tell you (one little note you cant make a DIR with this app but you can change existing ones so change AUDIO to Skin and whatever sub DIR to PheoniX, this should work, as all that seems to be in here is MS dashboard sounds)
6.   then using the FATX Restore backup, restore cache 3 and user and you should be fine
If you guys are still having problems try restoring the entire drive with the FATX FIX backup then restore the FATX Restore backup, partition by partition till you find what works and what partitions are causing the errors, just remember to use the FATX Restore to copy over any partition that has been FATX FIX

Kanga

I did everything the how to said and it kinda worked.  Got rid of my errors just I couldnt see any files.

So what I did was edit the FATX outta everywhere it said except offset 8ca80000 I left that to fatx so I could access the system folder and make changes.  Well after I made the changes in the fatx fix file I restored the whole HD.

Well instead of getting a whole buncha error messages, or not being able to see any of the partitions.  I was able to get access to my System folder, make backups of files, and make changes to my ststem folder.

After I had made my changes I backup the whole drive again and called it fatx fix2.  After the backup was completed I opened the fatx fix2 file up with winhex and changed all the .... (four periods) back to FATX.  Saved the file and restored the whole HD with HDD_DRIVER.   Worked... Got this box flashed with m8, evox, and all that stuff's working with it now.  Thankx for the killer info, if it wasnt for this I would have never got the used box, with a buncha files on it to work.

Ok this is for people getting the invalid size error, the reason for this error, is that this app cant deal with empty partitions and if you had of read the T00GG.rtf readme, you guys would have worked this out  , anyway this should get you though it, it also seems to only be a problem with ver 1.0 boxz
You will need a Full version of winhex for this

How about posting the author and the link to the tutorial? This thread is so illegal. It's plagerism if your don't credit the author.

I had the infinite error, so I hex editted all the partitions except system...restored to disk...now I load hdd driver get one error and then it goes away.  So everything works fine huh?  Well for some reason I have System/Audio but no Font directory!  I opened the original backup in FatX Explorer and saw the same thing.  Why would my xbox have no font directory and what can I do if i still want to exploit it?

owkay, i just bought this xbox 1.0. in the tut. they where talking about hddriver not being able to load empty hdd, since i didn't know what they ment by that is there any way i can fill it? ive tried the hex program, editing al 5 codes, at my second attempt i left the 8ca8 0000 code out. but nothing helped, i also tried to load the fixed system only, the cache3 and user only and some other combinations. ive been trying all day now, is there anything else i can try maybe?

Do I replace all the FATX's or just the ones with the weird looking y's after them??? there are a few that are alone but have some odd characters after them that aren't y's or dots.
