I tried changing the 5 instances of fatx to .... and that didnt seem to work. I also tried using fatxplorer but it just closes everytime i try to open an image or read the harddrive. Running out of ideas.

i have the same problems.. i just move and expand folders with the arrow keys and use the right mouse button.. so far its working

I'm working on methods of hex editing to fix problem. I found out that I deleted to much files so hdd driver would not work for me (updated to xbox live to much)

I did this fatx thing succesfully on my other xbox but now i
need some help ppl, i think i stuffed up my HDD  on my other xbox, im not too sure. I think i changed one too many fatx's.
When i hotswap my HDD it shows in the device manager but it cannot find it in HDD Driver.
And when i open it in WinHex it opens but its just full of "Sector Could Not Be Read"
I got a Backup of my virgin HDD and i was wondering if its possible to just restore an image of the HDD.
Also if i boot my xbox i get an error 16. Does anyone know what that means??
Any help would be very much appreciated.

LiquidMetal, I have gotten that error when I put the .exe with other files in a folder. Just try placing the .exe on your desktop or something.

does anybody know of a location where i may be able to obtain a key for my winhex? it keeps telling me that my user.txt is invalid.

I do not understand what you are talking about with the refrences to FATX and replacing them because where are they when i i open up my backup all i see is lots off numbers and letter ?!!?!?!?! P.S. instead of making another backup can you just copy and paste? Thanks Bye

Thank god Im not alone.  Any program I use either gets an error or closes by itself.  I hex edited all 5 of the fatx's on my one copy of my Xbox hd.  The other copy is virgin.  I restored using the hacked backup (the one with .... instead of fatx) and then restored the system part using my original.  All that did was bring back the errors!  Any help would be much appreciated, even though this seems to be a problem that happens to only a few people.
